GENERAL

1. If your date for Prom is not a Lake City High School student you must sign them up in the office. The sign-up sheet is on the counter.

2. Attention all students! Today is your last chance to purchase a yearbook and you don’t want to miss out. The cost is $40.00, pay $20.00 now and the rest later. This is your last chance. Lists of the yearbook staff members are posted throughout the hallway. Please order from one of them.

3. Attention all those who can sing, dance, perform or have another talent. Senior Oscar Night is coming May 8th and the student council is looking for performers. Please see Mrs. Richardson or Mrs. VanderBrook if you are interested.

4. Have you ever dreamed of being a firefighter? The Lake Missaukee Fire Explorers would like to announce that they will be recruiting. The explorers would like to show you what they do and what the benefits are in the program. The meeting will be in the auditorium on Tuesday, April 28 at 4:00pm. Ages 14-21 are welcome. If you have any questions please find Natasha or Chelsea Murray for more details.

5. Freshmen - A HUGE thank you goes out to all of you who helped with the pop can/bottle drive on Saturday. We made a lot of money in a short time. Way to go!! Also, freshmen who have not paid their $5 dues for this year please do so as soon as possible. FYI - Next year sophomore dues will be $10.

2. Baker College of Cadillac is hosting it’s 11^th Annual Career Fair on Wednesday, April 22 from 2 – 6 PM. Seniors are strongly encouraged to attend. There will be over 30 exhibitors. There is no cost. Bring your resume’ and “Dress for Success”.

3. Summer Camps: Mrs. Richardson has info available on summer camps at Ferris for 10^th and 11^th graders. CTC will pay your way. There are some great opportunities. Info is in the pocket in the information centers. Also, CTC has FREE summer camps available for current 9^th graders in Computers, Mechanics, Electronics, Health, Welding, Metal Working, Floral Design and Culinary. See Mrs. Richardson for information!

4. Ferris College of Engineering Technology will be holding an Open House on Saturday, April 25th, from 9am – 1pm. Pre-registration is required for this FREE event at www.ferris.edu/technology. This is a good opportunity to learn about the programs in Engineering Tech and exciting career opportunities.

5. If you are interested in going into Vet Tech or Veterinary Medicine, there is going to be a Pet Clinic in Lake City on April 26^th and they are looking for volunteers for that day. This would be great experience. See Mrs. Richardson for more information!

6. The Wexford-Missaukee Career Technical Center is hosting its annual Open House on Tuesday April 21, 2009 from 9-3 and 6-8 pm. Also that evening the Cosmetology students will be putting on a Fashion Show from 5-7 pm in the Lake Superior Room of CTC.

7. If any Senior is considering going to Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, see Mrs. Richardson for a scholarship opportunity.

Appetizers will be served. Tickets cost $25 for singles and $40 for couples. Following Prom will be After-Prom, also held at Timberwolf Lake Lodge until 4:00am. Tickets cost $10 per person. If you are going to After-Prom you need to get a packet from Shonta Turman. The theme is “Red Carpet Affair.” Please pay from Prom and After-Prom separately. Tickets are available at lunch. You can pay $20 now, and the remaining portion by May 15. You can purchase the book directly from a yearbook student or Mrs. Atkins. Checks need to be made out to LC Yearbook. Another way to purchase this yearbook will be through our school website. You or your parents will be able to link directly to the Josten's website to purchase the book using a credit card. Finally, we have a widget on the school website for you to see a large number of pictures that will be in the book.

There will be a benefit concert for the Arthritis Foundation on Saturday, April 11 in the High School Auditorium. Doors open at 5:30pm, show starts at 6:00pm. There will be three local bands performing. Cost is $3.00. Snacks and refreshments will be sold. Come and jam for a good cause!

Any student from LC who has been accepted to a secondary educational institution of any type for next year is eligible to apply for a scholarship through The Elks Lodge of Cadillac. There are 4 scholarships that will be awarded (Two $1000, and two $500). Applications are due by April 15^th. The application must include the following:

A typewritten statement of no more than 2 pages covering three of the four areas below:

Special Talents
Leadership
Community Service
Obstacles Overcome

A letter of acceptance from the college program you plan to attend.
Letters of reference from 2 individuals which will validate your qualifications for this scholarship and your transcripts
A typewritten paragraph of 200 words or less stating your career goals and how the course of study you have selected will help you achieve those goals.

The Rotary Club of Cadillac is offering five $1000 scholarships to area seniors who have been accepted into a postsecondary educational program, and who can demonstrate accomplishments in school areas, community leadership, and/or challenges faced and overcome. Applications are available in Mrs. Richardson’s office and are due by April 15.
