Congratulations to the Student of the Week – Dexter Porter. 

 

Lifetouch picture re-takes are scheduled for Monday, October 29.

The class of 2013 will be hosting a Halloween Dance on Saturday, October 27 from 8-11 p.m.  Dress   up and be entered in a raffle to win awesome prizes donated by local businesses.  There is a $5 admission fee. Please enter through the doors by the auditorium. This dance is only for Lake City High School students, and once you leave the dance you may not return.  We hope to see you there!

 

Seniors – it’s the time of year that you need to come up with the class song, class motto, and class flower.  Remember that you need to turn in the lyrics of your song with the song you nominate for class song.  Please put your suggestions on the sign up outside Ms. Morse’s room.   Suggestions are due November 2nd!

 Segment 1 classes for North Star Driving School begin Monday, November 5 at 3:45 p.m. at the high school.  Registration forms are located in the wall pocket outside the office.

 Remember to stop at the beginning of lunch to get your spirit points.  Freshmen go to Mrs. McNalley, sophomores go to Mr. Bongard, juniors go to Mr. Thom, and seniors go to Mr. Prielipp’s room.

Tickets for the Lake City vs Grand Rapids Northpointe Christian pre-district football game are on sale during regular school hours.  Students may purchase tickets during lunch. Pre-game ticket sales will end at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 26.  See Ms. Gilson at the high school athletic office.  All spectators must pay.  Season passes, senior citizen passes, league passes, and punch cards will not be accepted.

 

Senior Athletes – applications are available for the MHSAA-Farm Bureau Scholar Athlete Award.   Lake City may submit applications for three boys and three girls.  See Ms. Gilson for eligibility requirements and an application.  Deadline for application is Wednesday, November 19.

 

Wrestlers – MC Sports is offering a 20% discount on wrestling shoes and knee pads.

 

The winter sports season is just around the corner.  Girls basketball begins Monday, November 5. Boys basketball and wrestling begins Monday, November 12.  You must have a current physical on file before the first practice, or you may not participate.  Questions? See Ms. Gilson.

NHSers - we will be having a meeting Wednesday morning in Ms. Bernier’s room at 7:46 a.m.

Freshman – there will be a class meeting Wednesday, October 24 during 2nd hour.  Students should report for attendance and then go to the auditorium.  It should only take 15 minutes.

Sophomores – turn in your Yankee Candle orders tomorrow morning at 7:45 in Mr. Prielipp’s room.

Math tutoring is scheduled for Thursday, October 25 in Mr. Prielipp’s room.

All proceeds from the sale will be donated to a cancer organization.

 

There will be an important meeting for all boys who plan to participate in wrestling today at 12:15 p.m. in the auditorium.  Please be prompt.

YACsters – remember that this is the weekend you are meeting to count pop cans generously donated from Earthworks.  You will be meeting at Sarah Taylor’s house at 3pm Sunday afternoon.  If you are not sure where Sarah lives, ask her for directions.  Also, please remember to have your Fingers and Toes boxes decorated and ready to go by November 2.  All you do is much appreciated!

 

Thank you to the following students for volunteering at the Lake City Annual Chamber of Commerce Dinner on Tuesday evening:  Paige Davis, Phillip Molitor, Brandon Gallup, Meggan Martin, Brittany Goudos-Weisbecker, and Monica Smith.  Your help was much appreciated and you did a great job!

Mercy Hospital of Cadillac is seeking responsible student volunteers for the Emergency Department Volunteer Ambassador Program. Hours are varied and can be worked out.  For a brochure with more information and an application, see Mrs. Richardson.  It would be a great opportunity for someone going into the health field, but it is also a commitment.

Varsity Football Players - please come to the library at lunch to get your playoff pictures taken.  Pictures will be taken through Friday.  Thank you.

 

Seniors – a Jostens rep will be here today to take your orders for graduation announcements and other senior items.  He will be set up in the library during lunch.

 

If you are a sophomore selling Yankee Candles in order to have a senior trip, be sure to collect all your money when you sell the product. The orders cannot be made without money in hand.

The Wexford-Missaukee Career Tech Center will be hosting an open house on Wednesday, October 17, from 6-8 p.m.  There will be door prizes and refreshments.  Go and check out the wonderful programs that are available!

October 18 is a half-day of school due to parent-teacher conferences.  There will still be CTC in the afternoon and the bus will run its regularly scheduled time.  CTC students – you must make arrangements to have your parents pick you up when the bus returns to school.

 

Math tutoring is scheduled for Thursday, October 11, in Mrs. VanderBrook’s room.

The PSAT will be given on the morning of Wednesday, October 17, in the auditorium.  This is open to any 10th or 11th grader who wishes to take it.  The cost is $15 to be paid to Ms. Gilson by the day of the test.  You have until the end of the day Friday, October 12, to sign up in the office.  If you want to take the test, but can’t pay right away or have any other questions, see Mrs. Richardson.

Lake Superior State University will be here Thursday, October 11.  Please sign up in the office before or after school or during your lunch time.
