Lake City Middle School Bulletin for Wednesday, October 21, 2015 ...

Boys Basketball There will be a sign-in sheet in the office for 7th and 8th grade boys basketball. Come sign up at your lunch time if you are interested in trying out for the team. Tryouts will be held Monday, October 26th and Tuesday October, 27th. Reminder to all students who plan on playing a winter sport; you must have a physical before you may participate.


Trash Bags If you have Bear Claw trash bag orders, please turn them into the office asap.


6th grade Basketball Any 6th grade girl interested in playing in the travel league basketball program needs to get a form in the office. Forms are due back to Mrs. Bisballe on Friday, October 30th.


Pop Can Drive The Problem Solving Class will be putting on a Pop Can Drive starting now and running until November 4th. All proceeds for this drive will go to the Wexford and Missaukee Humane Societies. You may drop your pop cans off to your advisory teacher in the morning to be picked up and counted. The Advisory class with the most pop cans will receive popcorn.


Haunted Mansion Miller's Corners is hosting their 3rd Annual Haunted Mansion Fundraiser for Camp Rotary. If you missed this weekend you can still catch the October 23rd showing from 8pm until 11pm. There will be a hayride, plus food and refreshments will be available. All proceeds go to Lake City Area Schools.


6th Annual Boy Scout Haunted House The Boy Scouts will be hosting their 6th Annual Haunted House. This event will be held October 23rd , 24th and 30th from 6:30-9:30 at the Missaukee Conservation Club. The cost will be $5 per person with discounts available to those who come dressed in costume, in their boy scout uniform or with their boy scout card. See the flyers in the hallway for more information.


Science Any 8th grade student that would like their atom motel, needs to get them from Mrs. Bisballe by Friday.


Sports The Cross Country team ran in their Highland Conference meet last night and AJ Comp earned a 1st place standing in the conference! Nice job AJ and the rest of the runners! Come out tonight and support your Middle School football team as they take on the Marion Eagles. Game time is at 5:30 and is home.

Seniors – Michigan College Application Week is next week.  Many colleges are waiving the application fees during this time.  The goal is to have every senior fill out at least one application to learn the process.  There will be a drawing for prizes this year and some goodies for participating!  It will be Tuesday and Thursday during English hour.  See Mrs. Richardson if you have any questions.

 

Juniors and Seniors - your form to attend the Career Exploration Day at Baker is due to

Mrs. Richardson by the end of the day!  If you did not get one and would like to go, see

Seniors – just a reminder, tomorrow you will not be coming to school due to PSAT testing.  You may still attend CTC if you wish.

Seniors – next Wednesday, October 14 you will not be coming to school due to PSAT testing.  Please use this day to set up a college visit, do a job shadow, meet with a recruiter, research postsecondary training/education, fill out applications (job or college), search for scholarships, work on essays, or make phone calls to schools or employers. The CTC bus will still be running should you choose to attend CTC.

 

There will be Lake City Trojan buttons for sale at tonight’s game for $1.00.

This year a new dance guest pass form is required for any guest coming to a Lake City high school dance who is not a student of Lake City. Forms are available in the office.  Completed forms must be turned in to the office at least two days before the dance. 

 

Seniors we will be working on float building items during lunch today.  If you are interested in helping, meet in Mrs. Clous’ room.  Also, class officers will meet during lunch today regarding the fundraiser.

 

The senior class will be hosting a powder puff football game Monday, October 5.  It is upperclassmen vs. underclassmen.  The winning team will earn spirit points for their class.  Game starts at 7:00 p.m. at the football field.  Admission is $3 and concessions will be available. 

 

Upper classmen playing in the powder puff football game have practice tomorrow from 7-8 p.m.at the football field.  Sunday practice to be announced later. 

 

There will be a short float building meeting for all sophomores today in the library during lunch.  Please eat first and then join us to finalize our plans. Thank you!

 

The third annual Miller’s Haunted Mansion fundraiser for Camp Rotary will take place the weekend of October 16 starting Friday at 8:00 p.m.  If you wish to help or want more information go to www.facebook.com/millerbait.

Lake City NHS will be sponsoring a Red Cross Blood Drive on Monday, October 5. If you are 16 or older, please consider donating. You donation can save up to three people.

 

Sophomores - there is a change to the float building schedule. Tonight we will work from 3:30-7 p.m., instead of 5-7 p.m.  Please swing by the library to pick up a revised schedule.  We will also post the new schedule on our board in the hallway.  Also, remember to vote for your homecoming representative tomorrow morning in Mr. Thom’s room. Thank you!

 

Under classmen Powder Puff Football players will meet in Mr. Bongard's room at lunch today.

 

This year a new dance guest pass form is required for any guest coming to a Lake City high school dance who is not a student of Lake City. Forms are available in the office.  Completed forms must be turned in to the office at least two days before the dance.
