STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS

School pictures will be taken today.  Students will be dismissed in small groups throughout the morning.  Afternoon CTC students make sure you have your picture taken before you get on the bus.

 

There will be a full student council meeting today at lunch in Mrs. VanderBrook’s room. We are looking forward to meeting our six new freshman representatives.

 

Seniors - you did an awesome job at your float building this past weekend.  We need a few more hours to finish things up so plan on meeting Sunday at 3:00 p.m. 

 

Seniors – the Yankee Candle fundraiser and money can be turned in anytime next week.  If we all sell at least one item, we can make a nice amount of money towards our senior trip. 

 

Anyone interested in taking volleyball entrance tickets next Tuesday the 27th see

Mrs. Peterson a.s.a.p.  Our class is getting money for doing this so please help out.

 

Sophomore class pizza pickup is tomorrow after school.  Please remember to arrange for someone to come in and pick the pizzas up. 

 

Math tutoring tomorrow will be with Mrs. Peterson.

 

Baker College will be offering drivers training classes with their new Camaro starting September 29. 

Applications are available outside the office.  If you have any questions please call Baker College or you may contact Mr. Yeoman’s during lunch.

 

Juniors – there will be float meeting today after school in Mrs. McNally’s room to begin work on the float.  A list of items needed is posted outside Mrs. Phillip’s room.  Saturday’s float schedule will be announced later.

 

COUNSELOR’S CORNER

 

Central Michigan and Ferris State University representatives will be at school next week.  If you would like to talk to them please sign up in the office.

 

The PSAT/NMSQT will be given at LCHS the morning of Wednesday, October 12.  Sophomores or juniors who are interested in taking this test, please sign up in the office.  The cost is $14, payable to LCHS in the office.  See Mrs. Richardson if you have any questions.  You need to sign up by Friday, October 7.

 

Marine Sergeant Aittema will be available to talk to during lunch today in the lobby.

 

Remember to get your Go To Team applications in.  Do it this week before the excitement of homecoming week next week!

 

Lake City Schools will be participating in the Coats for Kids drive this year.  If you would like to donate a gently used coat please drop it off in the counselor’s office.  The drive will end September 30.  If you are in need of a coat, coats will be given out free at the Curry House, located between Cadillac and Lake City, on October 1 at 2:00 p.m.

There will be a freshman class officers meeting today.  Please get your lunch and meet in

Mrs. Peterson's room.

Members of the Cadillac Rotary Club will be here today at 3 p.m. to talk with students who may be interested in becoming an exchange student and studying abroad.  This club sponsors students for the program.  If you are interested in getting information sign up in Mrs. Richardson's office a.s.a.p.!

 

We are looking for volunteers to help with the Kiwanis Coats for Kids dinner tomorrow in the cafeteria.  Help is needed to set up, serve, clean up, host, etc.  You could work the entire time or just do a shift, between 3:30 and 8 p.m.  This is a great volunteer opportunity for NHS, Go To Team, college and scholarship applications, etc. and it is a great cause and a good time!  Sign up in Mrs. Richardson's office a.s.a.p.  Students who help will also get a free meal.

Thank you to the sophomore class for doing such a good job on their fundraiser.  Cydnee Arnold did an excellent job taking the pizza sales to the next level.  Excellent job, Cydnee.  Please remember the pickup date for the pizzas is this Thursday after school.  Remember to arrange for someone to come in and pick the pizzas up. 

 

Math tutoring this Thursday will be with Mrs. Peterson.

 

Sophomore class officers are to meet in Mr. Bongard’s room at the beginning of lunch today.

The Missaukee County sheriff’s office is holding ORV training classes in October.  If you are interested please call their office to register.

 

We need ideas for class motto, class song and class flower.  Any ideas need to be given to

Mrs. Peterson by Sept. 30.  Once all ideas are compiled we will vote.  Mrs. Atkins also needs your senior quote, senior picture and baby picture for the yearbook.  Start gathering these items and get them to her as soon as you can.

The votes have been tallied.  Congratulations to the Freshman class officers:  President - Malia Wright, Vice-President - Joe Liestenfeltz, Secretary - Nikolay Booms, Treasurer - Bradley Atkins, and on Student Council - Erin McGiness, Brooke Larsen, Rony Goodwin, Bradley Atkins, Logan Wyse, and Cylee Burns.

 

Congratulations to the 2011 Homecoming Representatives: Freshman - Shelby LaForest and Bradley Atkins, Sophomores - Anne Deforge and Aaron Lewis, Juniors - Alexis Boomgaard and Jeramie Lyle,

Seniors  - Chelsie Crane, Megan Eising, Rachel Gaylord, and Alyssa Wade and Nolan Davenport, Ethan Hinkston, Sam Snyder, and Jared Wright. Due to a tie in senior boys, there are four senior representatives.

Class meetings will be held today during 5th hour today.  Students will report to class for attendance before being dismissed to designated areas to vote on float theme and class representatives.

 

Math tutoring today will be with Mr. Bongard from 3:30-4:15 p.m.

 

We still have many students that have not turned in their census form.  All census forms must be returned by 3:30 p.m. this Friday, September 16.
