Starting Monday, May 2nd there will be no more charging at lunch time.  If you are Reduced or Full Paid you will need to have money in hand or on your account.  If you do not have either, then you will be given the alternate meal.  Please make sure that your meal account is up-to-date.  If you need a print out, please ask in the kitchen. 

 

Tonight is Senior Oscar Night. Everyone is invited to help celebrate the “achievements” of the Class of 2016. Mr. Webb is hosting and there will be live performances from Shae, Ashia, the Lake City Jazz Band, and others.  $3 will get you in the door, but Seniors get in FREE.

Congratulations to Kennah Gray – our Student of the Week!

 

Juniors and Seniors: There are only two more days to buy your prom tickets.  Sales will continue at lunch, but you can also buy your tickets from Ms. Phil or Ms. Bernier before school.  WE WILL NOT BE SELLING TICKETS AT THE DOOR.  If you are bringing a guest who does not attend LCHS, forms are due today.  Turn those into the office for approval.  Also, if you have not picked up your After-Prom letter and permission slip, please pick up those forms from Ms. Phil or Ms. Bernier and return the signed portion by this FRIDAY to Phillips or Bernier.

 

With warmer weather approaching, please remember the dress code, as addressed in the student handbook (page 12): Students are expected to wear clothing that is appropriate, which is the opinion of the administration, and not distractive to the learning process.  This includes, but not limited to: bandanas, halter/tank tops, midriffs, revealing clothing, shirts with sides cut out known as “wife-beaters” and miniskirts.  Shorts must be fingertip length.  Hats must be removed upon entering the building.  When wearing leggings, a shirt must be worn covering both front and back area.  According to the student hand book, first notification of inappropriate clothing is call to parent and detention.  Student is sent home if proper attire is not available. Second notification is detention and/or suspension and parent contact.

The Lake City Schools Variety Show auditions are Wednesday, April 20 from 3:30-5:30 in the auditorium or by appointment through Ms. Porter.

 

The Senior Oscar Night committee will meet tomorrow at 12:10 in Mrs. VanderBrook’s room.

 

The student council is looking for a couple more acts for Senior Oscar Night next week on Wednesday.  See Mrs. VanderBrook or Mr. Thom by tomorrow if you are interested.

 

Algebra tutoring is scheduled after school today in Mrs. VanderBrooks’ room.

This is a great experience with fun and exciting team building and leadership activities.  See Mrs. Richardson for a registration form that is due by the end of the week!

The Lake City Christian Reformed Church Youth Ministry is having a Summer Mission Trip Fundraiser called the Mission Madness 3 on 3 basketball tournament on Saturday, May 21.  Information is posted on the bulletin board in the lobby in you would like to play in the tournament.

His family would love to see lots of people from the Lake City High School there.  The cost is $10 for 3 games and shoes.  Donations will be accepted.

Seniors – you must turn in your senior trip money and permission slip asap!

 

Any student who is planning on signing out after they are done testing tomorrow must have a note from their parent, students are not to call home.  Please have arrangements made before you come to school tomorrow. 

 

Seniors will not be attending school during testing tomorrow.  The CTC bus will be running tomorrow, and seniors may ride to the bus to CTC.  Juniors will be testing all day Tuesday and Wednesday, and will not be attending CTC either day.  Because of testing, there will not be AI tomorrow.

 

Juniors and Seniors: Once Upon a Prom ticket will be on sale during lunch.  Prom will be at Fox Hill in Cadillac on April 23.  The cost is $25 per person.  Photo key chains will be included with your ticket price and prom photos will also be available for a minimal price.  Remember:  If you are bring a date from another school or a graduate, remember that he/she must be 20 years or younger and approved by the principal. Applications are in office.

Congratulations to the following Lake City High School students who were inducted into the National Technical Honor Society through CTC last week - Amanda Aldrich, McKayla Potter, Levi Black, and Hailey Pylkas.  This is a high honor!

The first annual Lake City Dodgeball Tournament, sponsored by the freshmen and sophomore classes, will be held on Saturday, April 16, starting at 9:00 a.m.  Team cost is $25.  Forms are available in the office, library, or school website.  Completed forms are due by Friday, April 1.  It is time to have a ball and sign up a team today.  (Teams of 8 may enter where 7 compete at a time.)

If you don’t want to play, please come be a spectator for the small cost of $3 to watch.

The following arrangements have been made for friends and family to pay their respects to

Tyler Lockwood:  visitation for Tyler will be on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at Young Funeral Home. 

The funeral will be Friday at 3:00 p.m. in the high school gym.  There will be a luncheon and celebration of Tyler immediately following in the cafeteria.

 

The Missaukee County Sheriff’s Department will be having an ORV Safety Class April 16 at the EMS building from 8-2.  To reserve a spot please call 839-4338.

Lake City Variety Show The Lake City Variety Show is returning in April.....if you are interested showing us what you've got, stop in to the office to grab a flyer. Auditions will be held March 24th and will be open for students from K-12.


Green Field Village Trip-8th Grade 8th grade students, your second $25 payment is due to the office by March 24th.

Track For those of you that are interested in participating in track, you must attend a short meeting today in room 164 during you advisory hour. Thank you and see you there!


March is Reading Month Today's drawing for the book fair certificate is for Autumn Ingraham. Congratulations! The next drawing will be next Monday, March 28. In honor of reading month you may come dressed as your favorite character from you favorite book or series. We hope to see many different characters on Wednesday, March 23rd.

"Stop everything and read" Day Thursday afternoon will be "stop everything and read" for the last two hours of the day. Bring your favorite books and other reading material to read and report to your advisory class that afternoon.


Read-A-Thon We have information in the office for a Read-A-Thon that is taking place April 4th - 20th. If you are interested....stop in the office for a flyer and a chance to win some excellent prizes.


ORV Class The Missaukee County Sheriff's Office will be holding an ORV Safety Class Saturday, April 16th from 8-2pm at the EMS Building. See the flyer in the hall for more information.


Popcorn Day Popcorn Day has been moved to this Thursday. If you haven't had a chance to give money to your advisory teacher, please do so by Wednesday.


Lake City Junior Equestrian Team The Lake City Junior Equestrian Team sign-ups will be March 21st-March 25th. There is a sign-up sheet in the office. The junior team consists of 6th-8th grade. The first meeting will be Friday, March 25th. Stop in to pick up an information sheet if you are interested in joining the team.
