Congratulations to the Student of the Week – Hannah Burkholder.

 

There is a meeting today in Mr. Prielipp’s room at lunch for girls interested in playing basketball.

 

Seniors – there is a meeting today to vote on class song, flower, and motto at 10:40 a.m. in the auditorium. 

 

Juniors – fundraiser items have arrived. If you are planning on participating in the fundraiser, check out a kit from Mrs. Colecchio between noon and 12:20 today.  Her office is across from the cafeteria.

The first local scholarship for seniors is out.  The Masons offer two scholarships just to Lake City seniors – the Beacon Scholarship and the Floyd Helsel Memorial Scholarship.  See Mrs. Richardson for an application.  Applications are due Friday, November 22.

 

ATHLETICS

 

Varsity football @ Evart, bus departs at 5:00 p.m., game starts at 7:00 p.m.

 

Saturday – Varsity volleyball @ Glen Lake, invite starts at 9:00 a.m.

Saturday – Varsity cross country @ Manistee National Invite, invite starts at 9:30 a.m.

 

ALL football playoff shirt orders, with payment, must be in to Ms. Gilson by 3:30 p.m. today.

The Wexford-Missaukee Career Tech Center will be hosting its annual open house on Thursday, October 17, from 5-7 p.m.   Check out the great programs that are offered for our students.

The sophomore class will be selling LC cinch sacks today during lunch for $10. 

 

Homecoming Court – court representatives are dismissed at lunch today with a note from home.  Each representative may have a friend go with them as long as the friend has a note from home.

 

Lifetouch will have picture packages available for purchase at the homecoming dance Saturday.  Information flyers are available in the office and will also be available at the dance.

 

The afternoon schedule is as follows:

Noon – court members dismissed

1:40 – band members dismissed

1:55 – all others in the parade dismissed

2:15 (approximate time) – students will be dismissed by the bells to watch the parade

There will be an assembly first hour tomorrow to introduce our 2013 homecoming candidates for king and queen.  All students are to report to their first hour class for attendance.  Teachers will then escort their classes to the gym.  Morning CTC students are to report directly to the gym when the bell rings.  This assembly will run approximately 30 minutes. Students will vote for king and queen during third hour.  Morning CTC students are to vote during lunch tomorrow in Mr. Thom’s classroom.

The homecoming dance is scheduled for Saturday, October 5 from 8-11:15 p.m.  Anyone wishing to bring a visitor must register their guest in the office.  All guests must be registered by 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 3, and must be under 21 years of age.  Sign up before school, after school, or during lunch - not during class time.

 

Remember to get your spirit points by going to the following person to check in during the first ten minutes of lunch: freshmen go to Mr. Prielipp, sophomores to Mr. Bongard, juniors to Mrs. Clous, and seniors go to Mrs. Phillips.  The race to the spirit trip is still going. Remember that tomorrow is color day!  Seniors wear pink, juniors green, sophomores orange, freshmen purple, and staff wears blue

 

The sophomore class will be selling LC cinch sacks this week for $10 during lunch Wednesday-Friday.  If you would like to see what they look like before then, stop by Mrs. Clous’ room.

 

Math tutoring is scheduled for Thursday, October 3 in Mr. Thom’s room.

 

The yearbook’s Photos of the Week have changed, and will be changing every day for spirit week.

COUNSELOR’S CORNER

 

Central Michigan University will be here today.  Sign up in the high school office to see them.

 

Volunteers are needed to help out at the Lake City Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet.  It will be held on Tuesday, October 15 at the American Legion.  Volunteers will need to be there by 5:45 p.m. and will be done by 7:30 p.m.  You will get a free dinner for helping to clear tables, serve coffee, and clean up.  Sign up in Mrs. Richardson’s office for a community volunteer experience.

If you have taken part in community service activities, or volunteered for things over the past year, you could be eligible for a 2014 Prudential Spirit of Community Award.  Fill out the online application at http://spirit.prudential.com or www.nassp.org/spirit.  Once the form is completed it needs to be submitted to Mrs. Richardson by November 5, 2013.

 

Be sure to check out what is posted on the bulletin board in the lobby and along the library hallways.  There is a lot of important information including college and scholarship opportunities.

 

Cadillac High School will be hosting college night on Thursday, October 10 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the high school auxiliary gymnasium.  There will be many college representatives available to talk to.

SOPHMORES – Jostens will be here during lunch today to take class ring orders. Orders will be taken in the library.  You will need to have your order form and a $50.00 deposit.  See Ms. Gilson for an order packet or if you have questions.

 

Spirit week starts Monday.  Monday is Nerd Day, Tuesday is Gender Bender, Wednesday is Color Day, Thursday is Super Hero, and Friday is School Colors.  For Color Day seniors wear pink, juniors wear green, sophomores are orange, freshmen are purple, and staff wears blue.

 

SENIORS – your pizza kit orders go in tonight and must be turned in to Mr. Bongard before you leave today. 

 

COUNSELOR’S CORNER

 

Central Michigan University will be here on Tuesday, October 1.  Any junior or senior who would like to see them may sign up is in the high school office.

 

The PSAT, Preliminary SAT, and National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test will be offered at our school the morning of Wednesday, October 16 in the auditorium.  If taken as a junior, it could qualify you for a National Merit Scholarship.  The cost is $15 to be paid by the day of the test to Ms. Gilson.  Make checks payable to LCHS.  Sign up in the office or see Mrs. Richardson if you have any questions.

 

ATHLETICS

 

Athletes - all Bear Claw Bag order forms and money must be turned in to Ms. Gilson today.  See Ms. Gilson if you have questions.  This is an athletic booster fundraiser and all money raised benefits the LCAS athletic programs.
