GENERAL

Attention Juniors & Seniors – The junior class will be selling Prom tickets until April 18; the Friday before Prom.  If for some reason you are having trouble saving the money required to go, please come down and talk to Mr. Bongard as soon as possible.  There may be some creative ways to solve this dilemma.  You have to see him to take care of the issue though.  Thank you – Mr. Bongard.

 

Please have your After-Prom contract/pledge sheet in to Mr. Bongard by Monday, 4/14 by 3:00pm – no later!

 

Attention all students – Pull out last year’s prom dresses and pick up your tux early for prom and get dressed up for an evening out.  The Lake City Student Council will be presenting the 3rd annual Senior A-Oscar Night.  The evening will include announcements of winners in prestigious categories such as Biggest Gossip and Worst Car among others.  There will also be singing performances from students of all grades.  Senior Oscar night will be Wednesday, April 16 at 7:00pm.  The cost is $2.00.

 

COUNSELOR’S CORNER

Mrs. Richardson has some new Scholarship applications:

1 – Bohning Company Ltd. Is offering a $1000 and a $250 scholarship to HS Seniors and college students who meet at least one of the following criteria –

            1.  Is or has an immediate family member currently working for the Bohning Company.

            2.  Is pursuing a degree in Physical Science.

            Application Deadline is May 16.

2 – The Rotary Club of Cadillac is offering scholarships to local seniors who have been accepted into an accredited, post-secondary institution.  THIS APPLICATION DEADLINE IS APRIL 15.          

3 – The Falmouth Cooperative is offering scholarships to students interested in pursuing an Agricultural career.  APPLICATION DEADLINE IS APRIL 25

4 – The Missaukee County Farm Bureau/Bonnie Burkett Scholarship Fund is offering scholarship money to seniors who have family members who are involved w/ Farm Bureau and who are pursuing an agriculture-related program after high school.  Application deadline is May 1st, 2008.

5 – Kirtland Community College is accepting applications for the 08-09 school year.  If you are planning on attending Kirtland, pick up an application from Mrs. Richardson.

6 – Delta Upsilon is offering scholarships to students attending the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor campus) for the 08-09 school year.  Application deadline is May 16th, 2008.

 

New and current CTC students – If you have not filled out the new enrollment form, you must do so ASAP.  You can pick them up from the table in Mrs. Richardson’s office.                                                                          

10th and 11th graders – There is an opportunity for 20 students to go on Manufacturing Tours of some of the larger manufacturers in Cadillac.  You will get to see all aspects of these companies such as line work, clerical, sales, engineering, laboratory, and management.  This is a great opportunity to see what is available for great careers in our area.  If you are interested in going, sign up on the sheet on the table in Mrs. Richardson’s office.  The tours will be on Tuesday, May 13th, all day.  Lunch will be provided.  Deadline to sign up is May 1st.  Only 20 slots are available on a first come basis.

   

SPORTS

All Baseball & Softball Games for today have been cancelled.  There will be no JV baseball, JV & Varsity softball practices.

 

There will be a volleyball open gym this Sunday, April 13th from 4-6, in the High School gym.

Students – Beginning next Monday, 4/14, Houghton Street will be closed off at the M-55 corner because of the road construction.  Please plan to take an alternate route during those few days.  Also, remember that you may not walk toward M-55 before/after school or during lunch.  Juniors and Seniors who choose to leave the building at lunch may only travel south toward the downtown area.

SPORTS

JV & Varsity Baseball/Softball games will be played at Lake City today.  The varsity teams will play one game beginning at 4:00pm.  The JV teams will play after the varsity game at approximately 5:30.  All varsity softball and baseball players need to be dismissed at 3:00pm today.  Games start at 4:00.  Be on the field by 3:15 and be ready to start warm-up.

 

Varsity Track – Away – Houghton Lake – 4:30 – Bus departs 3:05 – Athletes dismissed 2:50

 

Attention Track Athletes – Cookie orders will be delivered today.  Stop by Mr. Fossitt’s class this afternoon to pick up your orders.
