Free Throw-a-Thon Reminder to all boys basketball players the Free Throw-a-Thon is next Wednesday November 30th. Don't wait to start working on pledges and donations!


No school- tomorrow and Friday. We wish you and your families a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend!


Mobile Dentist will be in the LC District on December 16. Applications are in the office.


HOOP Christmas Starting November 16th, there will be a box in the Middle School Office to collect toys for the 52nd annual HOOP Christmas Party. The party provides toys to underprivileged children, from newborn to 14 years old, in Missaukee County. Please feel free to bring in unwrapped new toys for donation.


Stuffed Animals Wanted The Manton Rotary is collecting new or gently used stuffed animals to be give out at Project Christmas. New or gently used stuffed animals will be collected until December 8. Thank you for any donations to this worthy cause!


Non-perishable Food Drive for Project Christmas- The Natural Helpers are excited to host a non-perishable food drive for Project Christmas. Beginning on the Monday after Thanksgiving break (November 28), you can start bringing in your donations. We will be collecting food until December 8. The items will be collected during Advisory time. You are competing with all the other Advisory classes to see who can bring in the most items. The winning Advisory class will be rewarded with an ice cream sundae party hosted by the Natural Helpers.


Winter Sport Passes- are now available. Family=$50, Adult individual=$25, student individual=$10. Passes are good for all home games at middle and high school.


6th Grade Boys Basketball Camp Sign-up for 6th Grade boys basketball begins today. Please sign up during your lunch/AI hours. Sign-up goes through Monday, Nov. 28th. More details to come.

Congratulations to the Student of the Week - Brieonna Schepers.

You've all heard of Black Friday, right?  Well, the Journalism class is going to have a Yearbook Monday sale!  On Monday, November 28 yearbooks will be on sale for $35! This is the lowest price of the year. This is a ONE DAY ONLY sale, so bring your $20 deposit. 

Seniors will be voting on class song, flower, and motto today during 4th hour in Mr. Thom’s lab. It should only take a few minutes. Nick Trolz and Maggie Thom will be going around to pull seniors in small groups.

The senior composite is scheduled for the morning of Friday, December 2 in the auditorium.

 

Seniors - remember to stop in and sign the signature template in Ms. Bernier’s room.  Order forms and money for senior clothing are due November 30.  Also, make sure you are making sales on the Michigan fundraiser – order forms and money are due Monday, November 28. 

 

Sign up in the office if you are interested in being a Camp Rotary counselor.  Enrollment packet must be returned to the High School Office by Friday, January 6.

Seniors - there will be a class meeting today in Ms. Bernier’s room at 3:10.

 

Students – there will be no school tomorrow.

 

Students and parents – the Missaukee County Road Commission requests your cooperation through the upcoming winter months while snowplowing is taking place.  They ask that you be aware of the fact that the plows are on the roads many morning at the same times the buses are picking up students.  Please make sure that your children wait a safe distance from the plowed portion of the roadway until the bus actually arrives at their stop.  It is important that we work together to make certain of their safety.  If you have questions regarding the above or any other snow removeal problems, feel free to call Kelly Bekken, manager at the Road Commission at 839-4361.

The annual canned-food drive has begun. Drop off donations to your class advisor’s room each morning. Spirit Points will be awarded each of the four days this year.

 

The NHS is hosting the Red Cross Blood Drive tomorrow. You can save up to three lives, plus free snacks, and you choose which class you get out of. Sign up with Maggie Thom or on the school’s website. You must be 16 to donate.

COUNSELOR’S CORNER    

 

CTC’s annual Open House is this Thursday from 5–7.  Everyone is welcome.  Go over and see why CTC is the place to be!

 

A representative from U of M Flint will be in the library tomorrow at 1. Ferris will be here Wednesday, November 2 at 1 and Michigan Tech October 27 at 8:30 a.m.                                                                                                           

 

Seniors - if you have a 3.5 GPA or higher, Mid-Michigan Community College is taking applications for their Lake Distinction Scholarship.  There are 8 full ride scholarships available!  Go to midmich.edu/distinction for information on how to apply.  This is a great opportunity.  They are due by Saturday, November 12 so get on it fast!  See Mrs. Richardson with any questions.    

The Baker College Life 101 presentation for seniors, including pizza and pop, is scheduled for tomorrow at 10:50 a.m. for all 1st hour English 12 students, and at 12:30 p.m. for all 5th hour AP English and 7th hour English 12 students. 

 

If you are interested in taking a Dual Enrollment course for second semester, you will need to fill out a registration packet and choose a course(s).  These will be due to Mrs. Richardson by Friday, November 4.  See Mrs. Richardson with any questions you have, and to pick up a packet. 

 

Seniors - The deadline to register for the December National SAT test day is Tuesday, November 3 and the deadline to register for the December National ACT test day is Wednesday, November 4.  Go to Collegeboard.org if you want to retake the SAT, and to actstudent.org to retake the ACT. 

 

Sophomores – MYLEAD is a leadership program for students ending their sophomore year.  You attend this program at MSU one day in May and June.  See Mrs. Richardson about being nominated.

Congratulations to our Student of the Week – Kelsey Trumble.

 

Get your ghoul on at the Halloween Dance, Saturday, October 29, from 8-11 p.m.  Cost is $5 per person or $3 if in school appropriate costume!  There will be a costume contest and lot of fun! 

 

Students who are not in sports, at practices, or tutoring need to be off school property by 3:45 p.m.

 

Picture re-takes will be taken Friday morning in the auditorium. 

 

If you have not yet done so, turn your internet permission slips and census forms in to the office.

 

We have students who’ve been accepted into the Early College program through, and fully paid by, CTC.  They will attend a 13th year through Baker and leave with an Associate’s Degree at year’s end!  Congratulations to Olivia Emond, Dominic Hoadley, Hailey LaRoche, Kennah Gray, and Kyle Justa.

 

Mrs. Vanderbrook will not be having tutoring on tomorrow.
