STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS

Seniors – again, we are in need of about four students to do the 50/50 raffle at the boys basketball game next Tuesday night.  If you can help please see Mrs. Peterson or Mrs. Atkins right away.  We need a little bit of money to finish off your senior trip.

 

Math tutoring is scheduled for today from 3:30-4:15 p.m. in Mrs. VanderBrook’s room.

 

SENIORS – If you would like to order a senior t-shirt, the cost is $10 - pay Mrs. Peterson or Mrs. Atkins.  The money, along with your size, must be turned in by Feb. 1.  We will place the order on Feb. 2.  Also – ideas for who your class would like as a graduation speaker need to be turned in to Mrs. Peterson by Feb 1.  Once all suggestions are in we will vote.

 

Congratulations to the Student of the Week – Andee Hall.

 

Mock Rock 2012 is Saturday, January 28. Plan to attend or better yet, be one of the acts performing. Application forms are available outside the high school office and are due back by January 18.

 

The yearbook is only on sale until January 23.  The cost for the book is $35 or $40 for a personalized one with your name across the front.  Reserve a copy for $20. An example of the personalized book is in Mrs. Atkins’ window.  You may also order online at www.yearbookforever.com.   Have checks made out to Lake City Yearbook, and submit to Mrs. Atkins.  Remember, we WILL NOT be ordering any extra yearbooks.

 

Camp Rotary counselor applications are available in the office.  Stop in the office during lunch or before or after school to pick one up.  The required items listed on the application must be returned to the high school office by January 27.

 

COUNSELOR’S CORNER

 

If you would like to make a schedule change for second semester, fill out a schedule change form, located outside of Mrs. Richardson’s office.  The master schedule is posted in the hallway.  Check the schedule to make sure the charges you want will work, and then get the form signed and turn it in to the office.  You will receive a new schedule once changes are made.  Change requests are due by 3:20 on January 17.

 

Sergeant Aittama from the Marines will be here Thursday, January 19, to meet with any junior who would like to hear about the NROTC program and scholarship opportunities.  There is a sign up sheet in the office.  Please sign up during lunch or before or after school.

 

Seniors – many of the local scholarship applications are due to Mrs. Richardson on January 20 – start working on them!  Also, start preparing to fill out the FAFSA!

 

ATHLETICS

 

Cheer practice will be from 3:30-4:30 p.m. today.

 

Boys JV/Varsity basketball @ McBain, bus departs at 5:00 p.m., game starts at 6:00 p.m.

 

BASEBALL – boys interested in playing baseball this spring need to sign up with Ms. Gilson by Friday, January 13.  It is very important that anyone interested signs up so we can determine the number of athletes for both the JV and varsity level.

 

CABERFAE PEAKS red cards are here.  Good for discounts on lift tickets and ski or board rentals.  Cost is $1.00 and the card is good all season.  See Ms. Gilson to purchase.

There will be a Student Council meeting today at lunch in Mrs. VanderBrook’s room.

 

Seniors – anyone interested in planning our wall decorating, meet in Mrs. Peterson’s room at lunch today! 

We need to keep our lead in the spirit points.  Be there to help brainstorm!

There will be a short class meeting from 3:10-3:20 p.m. today.  We will distribute second semester class schedules. Afternoon CTC students - you are to report to room 11 as soon as you return today to pick up your schedule.  All others report to the following locations:

 

9th Grade – Gym – North Side

10th Grade – Auditorium

11th Grade – Gym – South Side

12th Grade – Library

 

Mock Rock 2012 will be held Saturday, January 28. It promises to be another memorable night, so plan to attend or better yet, be one of the acts performing. Application forms are available outside the high school office and are due back by the 18th.

 

There will be a Mock Rock Committee meeting today at lunch in Mrs. Vanderbrook’s room.

 

Just a reminder that this Friday is a half day with dismissal at 11:35 a.m.

Juniors – volunteers are needed to help at the Polar Plunge Saturday, January 21.  It is for a good cause and a great way to earn money for your class.
