AFTERNOON CTC STUDENTS – you will attend CTC classes this afternoon, but will be brought back to school for the homecoming festivities.  You will depart CTC at 1:45 p.m. and report directly to the gym when you arrive at school. 

 

Today’s afternoon schedule is as follows:  all court members may sign out at noon.  Band members and Alyssa DuVall will be dismissed at 1:40.  All others in the parade will be dismissed at 1:55.  There will be no 7th hour class today.  We will ring the bell to dismiss for the parade at approximately 2:25.  Students are to report directly to the gym after the parade for the pep assembly.

 

Picture brochures for the homecoming dance are in the high school wall pocket.  Brochures will also be available at the dance.

 

Mobile Dentist will be here Thursday and Friday, October 4 and 5.  Forms are located outside the office and must be returned by September 18.

 

Lifetouch school pictures will take place on Wednesday, September 19.

 

YACsters – There will be a meeting Wednesday, September 19 at noon in Ms. Morse’s room.  Please grab your lunch as quickly as you can and head down.

 

Don’t’ forget to claim your spirit points during lunch.  We will collect points from 12-12:10 today. 

 

COUNSELOR’S CORNER

 

The Rotary Youth Exchange Program is looking for students born between August of1994 and February of 1998, with a GPA of 2.75 or higher, who have an interest in foreign language study and international travel, to sponsor for their exchange program.  If you are interested in being an exchange student next year, you can contact Amy Gibbs at         231-468-1096, or email amy@sh-cpas.com, or see Mrs. Richardson for a pre-application.  Applications need to be in

by September 25.

 

This Saturday at 10 a.m. there is a Suicide Awareness Walk, which is for awareness, prevention and remembrance.  It will start at the Cadillac Rotary Pavilion and go to the Lakefront Bridge near Cadillac High School.  This is put on for our community by the Wexford-Missaukee Suicide Prevention Coalition.  To support this cause, be at the Pavilion by 10 a.m.  It is a very nice event.

 

The Lions of Michigan Youth Exchange Program is looking for young people between the ages of 17-21 to participate in a 4-6 week cultural exchange.  If you are interested, contact Steve Adsmond, District 11 E1 Chairman, at 231-924-3719 or email him at adsmond@comcast.net for an application form.  The deadline to have applications in is September 30.

The senior class will be selling “Go Trojans!” bracelets in the lobby at lunch this week for $1. Seniors, if you would like to sell bracelets at lunch, please sign-up on the sheet outside Ms. Morse’s room.  Also, we need 50/50 sellers and bracelet sellers for the game Friday night. 

 

The homecoming dance is scheduled for Saturday, September 15 from 8-11:15 p.m.  Anyone wishing to bring a visitor must register their guest in the office by 3:30 p.m. today.  Guests must be a high school student under 20 years of age.  Sign up before school, after school, or during lunch – not during class time. 

 

Don’t’ forget to claim your spirit points during lunch.  We will collect points from 12-12:10 each day this week.

Who will win the 2013 Spirit Trip? Currently (after two Spirit Days) the seniors are in the lead, but the freshman scored more points yesterday than any other class. The current totals are posted in Mr. Thom’s lab window. Tonight at the bon fire is another opportunity to get some points, so we’ll see you out back around 6:30 p.m. In addition to Spirit Week, your class can get points in the annual canned-food drive, Chill-out week, and this year at Mock Rock. There’s a long way to go, are the seniors going to walk away with it?

There will be an assembly first hour Wednesday, September 12, to introduce our 2012 homecoming candidates for king and queen.  All students are to report to their first hour class for attendance.  Teachers will then escort their classes to the gym.  Morning CTC students are to report directly to the gym when the bell rings.  Afternoon CTC students will vote with Mr. Thom in room 16 (Mr. Prielipp’s room) immediately after the assembly and then go to 1st hour class.  All other voting for king and queen will take place during 5th hour on Wednesday.

So, you dressed–up for Hippie day!  How do you get your well-deserved spirit points?  You can claim your spirit point at lunch until 12:10 each day this week.  Freshmen will be going to Ms. Morse’s room, sophomores to Mr. Bongard’s room, juniors to Mrs. Borton’s room, and seniors to Mr. Prielipp’s room.  Go check-in before getting your lunch, because at 10 minutes after 12 they stop giving points.  Afternoon CTC should stop and see Mr. Thom in room 18 right before going to lunch to get their spirit point.  Earn Spirit Points for yourself and your class toward winning the annual spirit trip this coming spring! 

The dress-up theme for Tuesday is “Game Day”, so come to school dressed to play and snag your spirit point.

Students, please remember the dress code that is stated in the handbook.  There are to be no bandanas, halter/tank tops, midriff shirts, sheer or revealing clothing, miniskirts, shorts that are shorter than fingertip length, and no clothing promoting drugs, smoking, drinking, profanities, obscenities, or illegal activities.
