GENERAL

1.  Today is the last day to buy Prom tickets.  Prom will be held at Timberwolf Lake Lodge on April 25th.  Doors will open at 7:00pm and music will start at 8:00pm.  Dance will end at 11:30.  Appetizers will be served.  Tickets cost $25 for singles and $40 for couples.  Following Prom will be After-Prom, also held at Timberwolf Lake Lodge until 4:00am.  Tickets cost $10 per person.  If you are going to After-Prom you need to get a packet from Shonta Turman.  The theme is “Red Carpet Affair.”  Please pay from Prom and After-Prom separately.  Tickets are available at lunch.  If your date for Prom is not a Lake City High School student you must sign them up in the office.  The sign-up sheet is on the counter. 

2.  Attention all students!  You will not be able to purchase a yearbook after April 20, 2009.  Today and Monday are your last chance and you don’t want to miss out.  The cost is $40.00, pay $20.00 now and the rest later.  This is your last chance.  Lists of the yearbook staff members are posted throughout the hallway.  Please order from one of them.

3.  North Star Driving School will be holding a segment two class in McBain on April 20, 22, and 24 from 5pm to 7pm.  Call 839-5331 to register.

4.  Attention all those who can sing, dance, perform or have another talent.  Senior Oscar Night is coming May 8th and the student council is looking for performers.  Please see Mrs. Richardson or Mrs. VanderBrook if you are interested.

5.  Freshmen – We are planning to do a can drive (collect cans/bottles and return them for class money) rather than a spring fundraiser.  The can drive will be this Saturday, 4/18 from 12:00-2:00.  Please meet behind the high school to help raise money for your class!  The more students we have the more money we will earn and the quicker it will go.

6.  Have you ever dreamed of being a firefighter?  The Lake Missaukee Fire Explorers would like to announce that they will be recruiting.  The explorers would like to show you what they do and what the benefits are in the program.  The meeting will be in the auditorium on Tuesday, April 28 at 4:00pm.  Ages 14-21 are welcome.  If you have any questions please find Natasha or Chelsea Murray for more details.

 

COUNSELOR’S CORNER

1.  Challenge of the Week - Share at least one heartfelt appreciation for a friend who has been by your side through thick and thin.

2.  Baker College of Cadillac will be hosting it’s 11th Annual Career Fair on Wednesday, April 22nd from 2 – 6 PM.  Seniors are strongly encouraged to attend.  There will be over 30 exhibitors.  There is no cost.  Bring your resume’ and “Dress for Success”.

3.  Summer Camps:  Mrs. Richardson has info available on summer camps at Ferris for 10th and 11th graders.  CTC will pay your way.  There are some great opportunities.  Info is in the pocket in the information centers.  Also, CTC has FREE summer camps available for current 9th graders in Computers, Mechanics, Electronics, Health, Welding, Metal Working, Floral Design and Culinary.   See Mrs. Richardson for information!

4.  Ferris College of Engineering Technology will be holding an Open House on Saturday, April 25th, from 9am – 1pm.  Pre-registration is required for this FREE event at www.ferris.edu/technology.  This is a good opportunity to learn about the programs in Engineering Tech and exciting career opportunities.

6.  If you are interested in going into Vet Tech or Veterinary Medicine, there is going to be a Pet Clinic in Lake City on April 26th and they are looking for volunteers for that day.  This would be great experience.  See Mrs. Richardson for more information!

7.  There will be a Go To Team Meeting today during lunch in Room #11.  Bring your lunch w/ you.  ALSO, wear your shirts.  We are going to try to get a group picture at the end of the day, 3:10 – meet in the lobby!

8.  The Wexford-Missaukee Career Technical Center is hosting its annual Open House on Tuesday April 21, 2009 from 9-3 and 6-8 pm. Also that evening the Cosmetology students will be putting on a Fashion Show from 5-7 pm in the Lake Superior Room of CTC.

3.  Yearbooks are on sale until April 20th for $40.  If you fail to order one during this time period, the book will cost $45 in the fall due to limited availability.  You can pay $20 now and the remaining portion by May 15.  See a yearbook student if you have questions.

GENERAL

Yearbooks are on sale from April 6 to the 20th for $40. If you fail to order one during this time period, the book will cost $45 in the fall due to limited availability. You can pay $20 now, and the remaining portion by May 15. You can purchase the book directly from a yearbook student or Mrs. Atkins. Checks need to be made out to LC Yearbook. Another way to purchase this yearbook will be through our school website. You or your parents will be able to link directly to the Josten's website to purchase the book using a credit card. Finally, we have a widget on the school website for you to see a large number of pictures that will be in the book.
