SENIORS – there will be a short senior class meeting today at 3:05 in the auditorium.  We will be talking about possibly ordering class sweatshirts.

 

SENIORS – make sure all of your school debts have been paid before Friday, May 12 (library, food service, shop, athletic, textbooks etc.).

 

SENIORS – we will distribute cap and gown packs today during lunch.  You may pick yours up in the lobby area.

 

ATTENTION STUDENT BODY: it is time for class elections.  If you would like to run for class secretary, treasurer,

vice president or president, you need to do the following:  1) fill out a student government petition - they are available from Mrs. VanderBrook or in the wall pockets outside the high school office, 2) submit a letter of intent and prepare a speech, 3) pay your class dues for the 2010-11 school year.  If you would like to run for student council, you need to do all of the above and fill out a student council application – also located outside the office in the wall pockets – or from Mrs. VanderBrook.  All forms are due by 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18 to Mrs. VanderBrook.  No late forms will be accepted.

 

The Michigan Department of Transportation is looking to hire a supervisor and crew members for summer employment.  Contact Amber Vanderstow or CJ Durkin at 231-342-2738 or 989-289-0882.  Supervisors must be 18 years old and crew members 17 or older.

The Lake City Christian Reformed Church is hosting an American Red Cross blood drive on Friday, May 14 from

12:00-5:45 p.m.  You must be 17 years of age and weigh at least 110 pounds.  The church is located at 1657 S. Morey Road.

 

SENIORS – applications to exempt out of your second semester exam are available in the wall pockets outside the high school office.  All applications are due in the office by 3:30 p.m. TODAY.  This is for seniors only.

 

A representative from Kirtland Community College will be here May 19.  Sign up in the office if you would like to speak

with him.

 

JUNIORS – as we begin planning for your senior year, consider paying your junior class dues of $15.  All class dues must be paid before you can go on your senior trip.  Your senior year is an expensive one; consider making it easier by paying in installment.  See Mrs. Phillips or Ms. Bernier.

 

The LCAS Health and Wellness Committee is sponsoring a Health and Fun Night on Thursday, May 13 from 6-8:00 p.m.  There will be activities such as a climbing wall (one of the tallest in MI), free snacks, and a kids obstacle course.  Come and see what it is all about.  We are also in need of some volunteers for some of the activities.  If you would like to help out, see Mr. Vasicek to sign up.

The American Legion is looking for some help to put out flags in the cemetery next week (Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday) after school.  If you are interested, see Ms. Bernier.  NHS students are encouraged, but anyone can help.

 

NHSers – there will be a short meeting today at 12:20 in Ms. Bernier’s room.  We need to take care of some year-end things.

Congratulations to Cara Stevens  - our Student of the Week.

 

The Lake City Christian Reformed Church is hosting an American Red Cross blood drive on Friday, May 14 from

12:00-5:45 p.m.  You must be 17 years of age and weigh at least 110 pounds.  The church is located at 1657 S. Morey Road.

The Huron-Manistee National Forest Service is hiring two youth workers, full time, from June 20 through August 13.  One position is clerical/office in nature and the other is forestry/field in nature.  It pays $7.40 per hour.  See Mrs. Richardson for an application.  The application must be delivered to the Cadillac office by May 21.
