GENERAL

NHS members -- All your service hours need to be turned in to Ms. Bernier by 8:15 A.M. Tuesday morning.  New members must have 8, elder members must have 15.  Remember that for each additional meeting missed after the first, you must do an additional hour of community service.

 

Mobile Dentist will be here February 23, 24, & 25.  Mobile dentist gives cleanings, takes x-rays, places sealants, and gives check-ups.  Medicaid, MI Child and most private insurances are accepted.  Pick a form up in the office and return by Monday, January 26.  See Mrs. Holly in the elementary if you have questions. 

 

COUNSELOR’S CORNER

Challenge of the Week – "Thank someone who has “been there” when you needed them."

 

Go To Team – shirt orders are due to Mrs. R today.  We will also meet next week, Wed., during 1^st hour.

 

Second semester schedules will be given out the morning of Tuesday (1/20) which is the first day of the second semester.  You will report to the following locations on Tuesday morning and then go to your 1^st hour classes:  9^th grade – North end of Gym, 10^th grade – Auditorium, 11^th grade – South end of Gym, and

12^th grade – Library

 

10^th and 11^th grade girls!  There is going to be a Seminar called Careers for Women held at CTC on Wednesday, Feb 4^th all day.  Lunch will be provided.  This will provide high school girls an opportunity to explore exciting non-traditional careers for women such as: Meteorologist, Veterinarian, Conservation Officer, Information Tech, State Police Trooper and more.  If you are interested and will COMMIT to going for the day, sign up in Mrs. Richardson’s office by January 28th.  Space is limited.

GENERAL

Juniors and Seniors – If your parents are interested in helping with after-prom activities please pick up a letter in the high school office.

 

Seniors – your voting sheets must be turned in to Mr. Bongard by the end of the day today.

 

Sophomores -- Our first 50/50 raffle basketball game is at tonight’s game.  If you are interested and able to help out selling tickets, see Ms. Bernier or Mrs. Phillips.

10^th and 11^th grade students who may be interested in a Media Productions (radio, TV, advertisement, etc.) program offering through CTC for next year, please sign up in Mrs. Richardson’s office.  They are trying to see if there is enough interest and you could go visit the program at Cadillac High School for a half day to learn more.

 

Volunteer Tutoring Position available – We are looking for someone who would want to tutor elementary students at Larsen’s Early Learning Center, 1 or 2 days per week, for one hour after school.  If you are interested, please see Mrs. Richardson.  This is a great opportunity for volunteering time to add to applications, resume’s, etc.  This will count toward NHS volunteer hours.

 

The Youth Exchange and Study Abroad program can provide full scholarships for American teens to live and study in a YES partner country for one year.  If you are between 15-18 and have a minimum of 3.0 GPA and are interested in studying and living in another country, visit www.yesprograms.org.  Applications for full scholarships are due by February 2^nd, 2009 (select PAX when filling out the app).

JV & Varsity Boys Basketball – Away – NMC – 6:00 – Bus departs 5:00

 

JV Cheerleaders - You WILL have practice on Wednesday from 3:30-4:30pm.  If there are any issues you need to call Ms. Ellis at the Middle School.

 

Varsity girl’s basketball practice will be from 7:00 to 8:30 tonight.

1.  There is a Prom Committee meeting today, 1/12 at 12:00 in Mrs. Colecchio’s office.

2.  Any freshman, sophomore, junior or senior that would like to play in the staff basketball game please sign up in the office by the end of the day today.
