There will be a half-day of school for students Wednesday, November 14, with no afternoon CTC bus and no school on Thursday, November 15. 

 

The annual food drive has begun. Please bring in non-perishable food to your class advisor’s room through Tuesday, November 20. Not only will you be helping those less fortunate, but your class will grab a percentage of the 40 spirit points up for grabs.

 

COUNSELOR’S CORNER

 

Seniors – there will be a presentation on life after high school in the auditorium on Monday, November 12 during 5th hour.  You need to go to class for attendance and then go to the auditorium.  Pizza and pop will also be provided, compliments of Baker College!  This is a fun presentation with great information that will be important to you after graduation.

 

This is the last call for any student interested in dual enrollment for 2nd semester.  If you are interested, you need to see Mrs. Richardson this week.

 

ATHLETICS

 

BASKETBALL – boys basketball try-outs begin Monday, November 12.  JV will meet in the gym from 5-6:30 and varsity 6:30-8:00.  You must have a current physical card on file in the athletic office.  See Ms Gilson if you have questions.

 

WRESTLING – practice begins Monday, November 12 from 5:30-7:00 in the cafeteria.  You must have a current physical card on file in the athletic office.  See Ms. Gilson if you have questions.

 

Senior Athletes – applications are available for the MHSAA-Farm Bureau Scholar Athlete Award.   Lake City may submit applications for three boys and three girls.  See Ms. Gilson for eligibility requirements and an application.  Deadline for application is Monday, November 19.

Remember to wear your red, black and white tomorrow in support of our varsity football team as they head to the regional finals Saturday at Ishpeming. Go Trojans!

Lake City Middle School Bulletin for Thursday, November 08, 2012

Reminder to students that walk between the two buildings: You must walk up to Huron Street then walk over to the main building. Students are not to walk on Houghton Street.


The Missaukee County Road Commission.... ....requests your cooperation through the winter months while snowplowing is taking place. We ask that you be aware of the fact that the plows are on the roads many mornings at the same times that the buses are picking up students. We urge you to make sure that your children wait a safe distance from the plowed portion of the roadway until the bus actually arrives at their stop. It is important that we work together to make certain of their safety.


8th grade boys basketball team lost a close game to Pine  River last night – 33 to 39. Excellent job not giving up in the 4th quarter. The 7th grade beat Pine River 24-6.

November schedule There is a half day of school tomorrow (Friday, November 9) and again on Wednesday, November 14. Students will be released at 11:20 am. School will not be in session on Thursday, November 15 due to the deer season opener. The following week school will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 22 and 23 due to the Thanksgiving holiday.


6th grade girls basketball... There are forms in the office if you are interested in playing 6th grade traveling league basketball.

Mrs. Redman will not be here during noon or after school to take payment for the spectator bus.  If you planned on paying for a seat on the bus today, see Ms. Gilson asap

Sophomores – there will be a presentation by CTC in the auditorium on Thursday, November 8 at 2:50 p.m. to choose the programs you want to visit during the tour in December.  You will be dismissed at 2:45 p.m. to go to the auditorium.  Please bring something to write with. You will be going back to your 7th hour class toward the end of the hour.

Yacsters – there will be a YAC regional training in Cadillac on Sunday, November 11from 2-6 p.m.  A few of you attended last year and had a great time.  If you are interested in attending this year, please sign up on the sheet outside Ms. Morse’s room ASAP.  Also, remember to stop by Ms. Morse’s room at lunch today and grab your flyers for your decorated Fingers and Toes boxes.

Tomorrow during lunch and after school Mrs. Redman and Mrs. Colecchio will be signing up people in the high school lobby that are planning on using the charter bus for transportation to the playoff game. Cost for the bus is $45 a person and will be collected at the time of sign up.

A spectator bus (tour bus) is scheduled to  leave Lake City High School at 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 10.  Cost is $45.00 per person.
