Homecoming 2011 is one week away. We invite you to join us in “A Night Amongst the Gods” next Saturday night. Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased at the door. That also means that Spirit Week starts Monday. Earn Spirit Points for yourself and your class toward winning the annual Spirit Trip this coming Spring. Monday’s dress-up day theme is “Disco”, so… Dude, find some groovy threads this weekend and have a happenin’ time in school on Monday. Peace!

HOMECOMING DANCE – if you plan to bring a guest to the homecoming dance, you must register that person in the high school office.  Your guest must be under the age of 20.  We must have a phone number to reach your guest if necessary.

 

There will be a float meeting in Mr. Sarau’s room today during lunch. All freshmen class officers need to be there along with anyone else that would like to help plan the float building.   The float building will begin this weekend at Kory Root’s house on Saturday from 1-7 p.m. and Sunday 1-5 p.m.

 

Seniors will meet on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. to finish their float.

 

Anyone interested in taking volleyball entrance tickets next Tuesday see Mrs. Peterson a.s.a.p. 

 

Baker College will be offering drivers training classes with their new Camaro starting September 29. 

Applications are available outside the office.  If you have any questions please call Baker College or you may contact Mr. Yeomans during lunch.

 

Juniors – float building will be Saturday at the school maintenance building (down the street from the high school) from 11 to 5 p.m. 

 

COUNSELOR’S CORNER

 

Central Michigan and Ferris State University representatives will be at school next week.  If you would like to talk to them please sign up in the office.

 

The PSAT/NMSQT will be given at LCHS the morning of Wednesday, October 12.  Sophomores or juniors who are interested in taking this test, please sign up in the office.  The cost is $14, payable to LCHS and given to Ms. Gilson in the back office.  See Mrs. Richardson if you have any questions.  You need to sign up by Friday, October 7.

Due to an error in the freshman class officer election last week, we’d like to congratulate this year’s officers: President Joe Liestenfeltz, Vice President Cylee Burns, Secretary Nikolay Booms, and Treasurer Bradley Atkins.

 

There will be a float meeting in Mr. Sarau’s room tomorrow during lunch. All freshmen class officers need to be there along with anyone else that would like to help plan the float building.   The float building will begin this weekend at Cory Colecchio’ s house on Saturday from 1-7 p.m. and Sunday from 1-5 p.m. We need people and supplies.

School pictures will be taken today.  Students will be dismissed in small groups throughout the morning.  Afternoon CTC students make sure you have your picture taken before you get on the bus.

 

There will be a full student council meeting today at lunch in Mrs. VanderBrook’s room. We are looking forward to meeting our six new freshman representatives.

Members of the Cadillac Rotary Club will be here today at 3 p.m. to talk with students who may be interested in becoming an exchange student and studying abroad.  This club sponsors students for the program.  If you are interested in getting information sign up in Mrs. Richardson's office a.s.a.p.!

 

We are looking for volunteers to help with the Kiwanis Coats for Kids dinner tomorrow in the cafeteria.  Help is needed to set up, serve, clean up, host, etc.  You could work the entire time or just do a shift, between 3:30 and 8 p.m.  This is a great volunteer opportunity for NHS, Go To Team, college and scholarship applications, etc. and it is a great cause and a good time!  Sign up in Mrs. Richardson's office a.s.a.p.  Students who help will also get a free meal.

Thank you to the sophomore class for doing such a good job on their fundraiser.  Cydnee Arnold did an excellent job taking the pizza sales to the next level.  Excellent job, Cydnee.  Please remember the pickup date for the pizzas is this Thursday after school.  Remember to arrange for someone to come in and pick the pizzas up. 

 

Math tutoring this Thursday will be with Mrs. Peterson.

 

Sophomore class officers are to meet in Mr. Bongard’s room at the beginning of lunch today.

 

Any sophomore interested in float building please go to the shop at lunch Tuesday right after your

bell rings. 

 

The Missaukee County sheriff’s office is holding ORV training classes in October.  If you are interested please call their office to register.

 

We need ideas for class motto, class song and class flower.  Any ideas need to be given to

Mrs. Peterson by Sept. 30.  Once all ideas are compiled we will vote.  Mrs. Atkins also needs your senior quote, senior picture and baby picture for the yearbook.  Start gathering these items and get them to her as soon as you can.

CTC will be holding its annual open house on Tuesday, October 4, from 6-8 p.m. at the Career Technical Center on 13th street in Cadillac.  They have moved the open house from spring to the fall. Please be sure to go and check out all of the programs that are available.
