Congratulations to the Student of the Week – Raven Potter.

 

Segment 1 classes for North Star Driving School begin Monday, November 5 at 3:45 p.m. at the high school.  Registration forms are located in the wall pocket outside the office. 

 

YACsters – remember that this is the weekend you are meeting to count pop cans generously donated from Earthworks.  You will be meeting at Sarah Taylor’s house at 3pm Sunday afternoon.  If you are not sure where Sarah lives, ask her for directions.  Also, please remember to have your Fingers and Toes boxes decorated and ready to go by November 2.  All you do is much appreciated!

 

Thank you to the following students for volunteering at the Lake City Annual Chamber of Commerce Dinner on Tuesday evening:  Paige Davis, Phillip Molitor, Brandon Gallup, Meggan Martin, Brittany Goudos-Weisbecker, and Monica Smith.  Your help was much appreciated and you did a great job!

Mercy Hospital of Cadillac is seeking responsible student volunteers for the Emergency Department Volunteer Ambassador Program. Hours are varied and can be worked out.  For a brochure with more information and an application, see Mrs. Richardson.  It would be a great opportunity for someone going into the health field, but it is also a commitment. 

We are starting our high school tutoring program next week.  This Monday, October 22 we will have science tutoring from 3:30-4:40 p.m. in Mrs. Clous’ room.  Wednesdays will be 3:30-4:30 p.m., any subject, with alternating supervising teachers and NHS students in room 13.  Thursdays, 3:30-4:15, math tutoring, with alternating math teachers in their rooms.  Check the schedules that will be posted or listen to the announcements for details.

 

ATHLETICS

 

Varsity Football @ Suttons Bay, bus departs at 4:00 p.m., game starts at 7:00 p.m.

Saturday – Varsity Volleyball @ Glen Lake, invite starts at 9:00 a.m.

Saturday – JV Volleyball @ Westshore, invite starts at 9:00 a.m.

Saturday – Varsity Cross Country @ Manistee, invite starts at 9:30 a.m.

 

The Volleyball athletes will be selling pink volleyball cut outs at lunch time for their Dig Pink game on Tuesday.  When you purchase one of the volleyballs for a dollar, you will be able to write the name of a cancer victim or survivor on it and they will be hung on the wall of the gym for the next home volleyball game. All proceeds from the sale will be donated to a cancer organization. Thank you for your support!

 

There will be a sign-up meeting for girls basketball on today at 12:10 in Mr. Prielipp’s room.  Any high school girl interested in playing basketball must attend or contact Mr. Prielipp.  Grab your lunch and meet in room 16. 

 

Volleyball athletes – parents’ night is scheduled for Tuesday, October 23.  You must register your parents with Ms. Gilson by 3:30 on Monday, October 22.

 

There will be an important meeting for all boys who plan to participate in wrestling on Tuesday, October 23 at 12:15 p.m. in the auditorium.  Please be prompt.

There will be a Go To meeting on Thursday, October 18 during 4th hour.  Check in with your 4th hour teacher and then go to the auditorium.

Congratulations to the Student of the Week – Raven Potter.

Tomorrow is a half-day of school due to parent-teacher conferences.  There will still be CTC in the afternoon and the bus will run its regularly scheduled time.  CTC students – you must make arrangements to have your parents pick you up when the bus returns to school.

Junior class prom committee members will have a meeting during lunch on Tuesday, October 16 in Mr. Bongard’s classroom.  Get your lunch and bring it down by 12:10 p.m.  Bring your listening ears.

The PSAT will be given on the morning of Wednesday, October 17, in the auditorium.  This is open to any 10th or 11th grader who wishes to take it.  The cost is $15 to be paid to Ms. Gilson by the end of the test.  You have until the end of the day today to sign up in the office.  If you want to take the test, but can’t pay right away or have any other questions, see Mrs. Richardson.
