GENERAL

Seniors – your senior info and pictures are due before Christmas.  Please get this in as soon as possible to Mrs. Atkins or Hayley Mund.

 

Sophomores:  Our fruit orders are due in this Friday afternoon.  Please make arrangements to pick up and deliver your orders that day.  We don't want them sitting in the school all weekend. 

 

Attn YACsters:  There will be a meeting Friday, December 5th in Ms. Morse's room at 7:45am.

 

The Missaukee County Sheriff’s Office is offering a snowmobile training class on December 13.  See poster on bulletin board for more information.

GENERAL

1.  The student council counted and sorted 362 cans of food that were brought in for the canned food drive the classes places at follows.  In last place the seniors, third place the juniors, second place the sophomores and first place the freshman.  The overall spirit points are as follows (note: this does not include the last two red pride Fridays)

            Juniors - 23 points

            Sophomores- 26 points

            Seniors - 40 points

            Freshman- 41 points

2.  YAC is hosting a “Fingers & Toes Before It Snows” drive for needy children.  Donations of new mittens, gloves, or socks for infants through youth sizes can be brought to the Middle or High School libraries or local businesses.  The drive ends November 30th.

2.  The General Federation of Women’s Clubs of Michigan is funding two $500 scholarships in the state for students pursuing further education in the Arts and Nursing.  See Mrs. Richardson for an application.  Applications are due by November 28th to the scholarship chairman.

3.  The local Masonic Lodge is offering 2 scholarships of at least $500 to Lake City seniors.  The Beacon Scholarship and The Floyd Helsel Memorial Scholarship.  See Mrs. Richardson for applications.  They are due to Mrs. Richardson by December 10th.

4.  Go To Team members – your permission slips for the retreat are due to Mrs. Richardson by December 2nd.  If you did not get one or need a new one, stop by Mrs. Richardson’s office.  There is no meeting this week!  Happy Thanksgiving!

2.  YAC is hosting a “Fingers & Toes Before It Snows” drive for needy children.  Donations of new mittens, gloves, or socks for infants through youth sizes can be brought to the Middle or High School libraries or local businesses.  The drive ends November 30th.

3.  Trojan Wear orders are due today!  Pick out Christmas presents, take flyers home and to neighbors and relatives and get your order in.  These items are a great way to show pride in LC and Trojan Spirit.  Turn in orders to the office or to Mrs. Richardson.

4.  Freshmen – Pie orders will be in this Friday.  Make arrangements to have them picked up at 3:10.

2.  In support of Anti-bullying week which is November 17 – 21, we will have “Hats On Day” tomorrow, Wednesday, November 19th.  You can wear a hat for the day if you pay $1 in support of anti-bullying.  You will receive a “No Bullying” sticker that you must wear on you somewhere, in order to wear a hat for the day.  The funds will go to the Go To Team fund for future activities.  Please show your support and stand up to bullying for a safe and caring school environment.  There will be a table in the lobby in the morning to pay your $1 and receive a sticker.

GENERAL

1.  The annual canned food drive has begun.  The class that wins receives spirit points.  Please bring your canned goods to the following locations

            Senior: Bongard

            Juniors: VanderBrook/Richardson

            Sophomores: Bernier/Phillips

            Freshman: Peterson/Atkins

2.  The drama class will be presenting "Airline" Friday, November 21 and Saturday, November 22 at the LCHS auditorium. Tickets are $5 at the door. Doors open at 7:30 and the show begins at 8:00. Come out and support the LCHS drama program.

3.  Trojan Wear orders are due no later that the end of this week!  Pick out Christmas presents, take flyers home and to neighbors and relatives and get your order in.  These items are a great way to show pride in LC and Trojan Spirit.  Turn in orders to the office or to Mrs. Richardson.

4.  Attention all YAC’s – Please meet in Mr. Melvoin’s room tomorrow morning, 11/18 at 7:45am.  See you there – Rupe

5.  Freshmen – Pie orders will be in this Friday.  Make arrangements to have them picked up at 3:10.

COUNSELOR’S CORNER

1.  Challenge of the Week–Say hello or something nice to someone you don’t know or don’t usually talk to.

2.  In support of Anti-bullying week which is November 17 – 21, we will have “Hats On Day” on Wednesday, November 19th.  You can wear a hat for the day if you pay $1 in support of anti-bullying.  You will receive a “No Bullying” sticker that you must wear on you somewhere, in order to wear a hat for the day.  The funds will go to the Go To Team fund for future activities.  Please show your support and stand up to bullying for a safe and caring school environment.  There will be a table in the lobby in the morning to pay your $1 and receive a sticker.

3.  Representatives from the following colleges are scheduled to be here.  Sign up in the office if you are interested in meeting with them.  Ferris State University – today, Monday, 11/17, Northern Michigan University – Tuesday, 11/18.

4.  The General Federation of Women’s Clubs of Michigan is funding two $500 scholarships in the state for students pursuing further education in the Arts and Nursing.  See Mrs. Richardson for an application.  Applications are due by November 28th to the scholarship chairman.

5.  The local Masonic Lodge is offering 2 scholarships of at least $500 to Lake City seniors.  The Beacon Scholarship and The Floyd Helsel Memorial Scholarship.  See Mrs. Richardson for applications.  They are due to Mrs. Richardson by December 10th.

SPORTS

1.  Cheer team try outs for basketball season will be today, tomorrow, and Thursday of this week (11/17, 11/18 & 11/20).  Be ready to practice in the high school band room beginning at 3:45 p.m. each day.  If you are not participating in a winter sport, be a “spirit leader” in your school – come check it out.  If you have any questions, see Mrs. Vokes or Ms. Ellis at the middle school.

2.  This is a reminder that all MHSAA Scholar Athlete applications are due to Mr. Peterson by Wednesday, 11/19.

NOTES FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Attention all students – Winter weather is here.  Please note that snow plows are on the roads many mornings at the same times that busses are picking up students.  Be sure to wait for the bus a safe distance from the road.  If you are at a bus stop along with younger children please remind them.

 

Attention all student drivers – Please take extra care, slow down, and pay attention while driving in winter conditions.
