Caberfae Peaks Community Red Cards are available for $1.00 each.  Red cards offer discounts on lift tickets and ski or board rentals.  If you would like to purchase a red card see Ms. Gilson before school, during your lunch break, or after school.

 

There will be a student council meeting on Friday during lunch in room 11.

 

There will be a Go To Team meeting today during lunch in room 11.  NHSers and 9th grade class officers will be dismissed at 12:20 for other meetings.

Tomorrow, November 20^th is National Stand Up to Bullying Day.  To stand up to bullying at LCHS we are having a Hats On Day.  For $1 you will receive a No Bullying sticker and can wear a hat of your choice (appropriate) for the day.  The money will go into our future Challenge Day fund.  There will be a table set up in the lobby to get your sticker in the morning – if you aren’t wearing a sticker, you can’t wear a hat.  That day at lunch we will also be selling the See it. Hear it. STOP IT! window decals for $2.00.  They are available in several colors.  They are great to display on car or home windows or mirrors.  Again, funds go toward a future Challenge Day program and in support of the See it. Seniors – announcing the local Masonic Lodge Scholarships through the Michigan Masonic Charitable Foundation.  Each year the local Masons give two scholarships of at least $500 each.  One is the Beacon’s Scholarship and one is the Floyd Helsel Memorial Scholarship.  See Mrs. Richardson for an application.  It will entail writing a short essay and getting letters of recommendation.  They are due by November 20, 2009, to Mrs. Richardson.

The Missaukee District Library is presenting an interactive mystery dinner, The Cracks in the Wall, for 6th through 12th grade students on Friday, November 13 from 6-8:00 p.m.  There will be prizes and refreshments – no ticket is needed.

 

Congratulations to Lacey Hill – our Student of the Week.

 

There will be a meeting for all 10th grade students in the auditorium today during 7th hour.  Students are to report to class for attendance and then report directly to the auditorium.  There will be a presentation on CTC programs and discussion about CTC visits.

 

JUNIORS – there will be a prom committee meeting on Friday at 12:10 in Ms. Phillips’ room.  If you are interested in planning, grab your lunch and come down at 12:10.

 

Picture retakes are scheduled for this morning.   You must bring back your original pictures.  If you were not here for the previous picture day, you must have your picture taken for your student ID.  Order forms will be available in the office.

Seniors – announcing the local Masonic Lodge Scholarships through the Michigan Masonic Charitable Foundation.  Each year the local Masons give two scholarships of at least $500 each.  One is the Beacon’s Scholarship and one is the Floyd Helsel Memorial Scholarship.  See Mrs. Richardson for an application.  It will entail writing a short essay and getting letters of recommendation.  They are due by November 20, 2009, to Mrs. Richardson.

 

 

ATHLETICS

 

Hey all you Trojans!  The volleyball teams are selling flip flops and slides to raise money for training and equipment.  This is a great way to show your school spirit!  Pick up an order form from the athletic wall pockets.  Cost is $15.00 per pair and you must pay when you turn in your order.  All orders are to be turned in to Ms. Gilson by November 17.

Students – as you go through the lunch line, the food service department is asking that you use the hand sanitizer located at each kitchen entry door.

 

Any student who would like to purchase a football play-off t-shirt or sweatshirt see Mr. Peterson or Ms. Gilson.   Cost is $10.00 for t-shirt or $25.00 for a sweatshirt.  If we don’t have the size you need, we will place an order. All orders must be placed by noon TODAY.  YOU MUST PAY BEFORE WE PLACE THE ORDER. 

 

Results of the 9th grade class elections are as follows:  President – Kyler Root, Vice-president – James Hollars, Treasurer – Ryan Vincent.  Due to a tie for the office of secretary, a run-off election between Megan Martin and Radha Patel is scheduled for Tuesday during English classes.  The 9th grade student council reps are: Troy Flint, James Hollars, Chris Houghton, and Lena Pickler.

 

STUDENT COUNCIL EXECUTIVE BOARD – there will be a meeting during lunch on Tuesday, October 27 in Mrs. VanderBrook’s room.

 

STUDENT COUNCIL – there will be a meeting Thursday, October 29 during lunch in room #11.
