The High School Library will be closing on Wednesday, June 1.  Books need to be returned to the library by Friday, June 3 at the latest.

 

Seniors – please be sure to eat lunch in the cafeteria today for a special treat!

 

The yearbooks will arrive later this week!  If you still owe money, it must be paid before you may receive your book.  Also, there will be a few extra yearbooks for sale at $45, first come, first serve.

 

Seniors – tonight is senior awards starting at 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium. Dress nicely and be on time. 

 

Seniors attending senior trip – go to your last meeting before the trip during AI today.  Report to AI for attendance then head to Mr. Bongard’s room.  If you attend PM CTC, see Mrs. Clous when you return in the afternoon.

 

Seniors – please be on time for your mandatory graduation practices on Thursday and Friday,

May 26 and 27 at 9:00 a.m.

 

COUNSELOR’S CORNER                                                                                                                

 

If you are a female going into 9th – 11th grade, and interested in Engineering, Wolverine Cooperative was awarded a full scholarship to give away to a student who wants to attend Michigan Technological University’s summer “Women in Engineering” camp that takes place the 3rd week in June.  To apply for the camp and to be able to attend all expenses paid, see Mrs. Richardson ASAP.

 

Graduating Seniors – Avon Automotive in Cadillac is currently hiring full time, long term.  If you are job seeking go to Michigan Works to apply!

 

All Dual Enrollment and Independent Study students – you need to get Mrs. Richardson a copy of your final grade, when you complete your course, in order to get the credit.  Print it and turn it in to her, or leave it in the office if she isn’t available.

 

Sophomores attending CTC next year in Metal Fabrication, Hospitality, Business, Public Safety, or Computers - if you are interested in the Early College Program, you need to have your paperwork in to Mrs. Richardson by tomorrow.

 

Seniors – you will need to have a copy of your final transcripts sent to your college.  You can request those through Parchment.com.  If you haven’t yet, go on and set up an account.  Then you will be able to request what you need.  Be sure to request them to be sent at the end of the school year.  Final transcripts will be available at the end of June.

Lake City Middle School Bulletin for Thursday, May 12, 2016

Lunch Starting on Monday, May 23rd you will no longer be able to charge a lunch. If you are Reduced or Full Paid you will need cash in hand or money on your account to eat lunch. If you do not have either, you will be given the alternative meal.....a cheese sandwich. This does not apply to Free lunch students. Thank you for your cooperation!

Yearbooks Yearbooks are still on sale. There are a few weeks left to order your yearbook. Forms are located in the office, hallway or library. Cost is only $16.


Summer is here! With the warm and sunny weather finally here we ask that you remember that sunglasses/hats are not to be warn in school. Also, shorts/skirts should be at least fingertip length. No tank tops. If any questions you can refer to the student handbook for more details. Thank you!


Boys Basketball Camps Attention: all boys’ basketball players interested in playing basketball next year please pick up a Lake City Basketball Camp registration form across from office. 6th and 7th graders grab the GREEN sheet, and 8th graders the BLUE sheet. The camps run June 20-23rd. Also, if you are an 8th grader who is planning on attending the Ferris State Team Camp please get your cash or check of $75 to Coach Besko as soon as possible. Cell Phone/Electronic Device Reminder Remember that all phones and electronic devices should be turned off and placed in your locker once school starts. Use of personal iPods, phones, or other electronic devices can be used during lunch time ONLY. If you need to use the phone for illness please use the office phone. If a student is found in possession of a cell phone it will be confiscated and parents will be asked to pick it up from school. A second offense will result in out-of-school suspension.


8th grade girls The meeting for any 8th grade girl who is interested in playing basketball or volleyball next year, will be in room 164, today, at 11:50.


MS Track Both Boys and Girls MS Track teams ran away with 1st place wins last night. While in Marion we had 78 individual PR's set. Nice job to both teams! Reminder that our track meet will be held in Pine River on Friday.

The Lake City Athletic Boosters are sponsoring a float for the 4th of July and would like help from the students to design and guild it.  Please see Charlie Crittenden if you are interested.

 

Freshmen vision screening is scheduled for tomorrow.  A student will be coming to pull freshmen throughout the morning for testing.

There is a meeting for all girls interested in playing volleyball or basketball today in the auditorium during lunch time.

 

There is a football meeting today at 11:45 in the high school gym for any student grades 9-11 interested in playing football.

Junior Class Officers – there will be a short meeting at 8:00 a.m. in the auditorium with Jostens on Thursday, May 8 to start discussing 2017 graduation.

 

This weekend, the Lake City Forensics team competed at the state tournament at Central Michigan University.  The team finished 7th in the state for class C/D schools.  If you see Collin Hinkston in the hallway, congratulate him because he is the State Champion in Dramatic Interpretation!  Ethan Wetzel and Andrew Fecther were also State Semi-Finalists in Duo Interpretation.    If you are interested in learning more about forensics, come to the Fine Arts Fair on Tuesday, May 17 to see some of the team members perform their pieces!

Forms for students interested in Dual Enrollment, Teacher Academy, and Independent Study classes for next year are available in the office.  They are due to Mrs. Richardson by the end of the day this Friday!

Varsity Track vs McBain at Evart, students dismiss at 2:15, bus departs at 2:30, meet starts at 4:00.

 

JV Softball at Benzie Central, students dismiss at 1:45, bus departs at 2:00, game starts at 4:15 p.m.

 

There is golf practice today at the course.  Meet by the back red doors for a ride to the course.  Coach B will be there by 4:00 p.m.  Use the putting green until he arrives.

 

There will be a short boys basketball meeting tomorrow during AI.  Please meet in the gym.

 

There will be a meeting for all girls interested in playing volleyball or basketball on Wednesday, May 4 in the auditorium. The meeting will be held during lunch time.

 

There will be a football meeting Wednesday, May 4 at 11:45 in the high school gym for any student grades 9-11 interested in playing football.

Starting Monday, May 2nd there will be no more charging at lunch time.  If you are Reduced or Full Paid you will need to have money in hand or on your account.  If you do not have either, then you will be given the alternate meal.  Please make sure that your meal account is up-to-date.  If you need a print out, please ask in the kitchen. 

 

Freshmen:  Get out there and sell your Yankee Candles.  Remember, the money you make will start your class with what they need for a super senior trip.  Money and orders are due Monday, May 2! If you did not receive a fundraiser packet, see Mrs. Peterson for one.
