COUNSELOR'S CORNER

 

Mid Michigan Community College will be hosting a College Day on Friday, April 15, 2011 from

9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Harrison Campus.  This is open to all 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students and parents.  This is a free event for students to learn more about various colleges, universities, and military agencies.    For more information, visit www.midmich.edu/collegeday.

 

Any 10th or 11th grade students  interested in attending CTC next year MUST fill out an application.  They are located in the pockets outside of Mrs. Richardson's office.  They need to be turned in to Mrs. Richardson BEFORE Spring Break.

The first day of spring sports practice is Monday, March 14.

The practice schedule for Monday is:

 

Track                                      3:30-5:00 p.m.           Meet in the gym

Softball                                   5-7:00 p.m.                Meet in the gym

Golf                                        3:30-5:00 p.m.           Meet in room 26 (Mr. Bongard)

Baseball (9th/10th grade)          3:30-5:00 p.m.           Meet in the middle school gym    

Baseball (11th/12th grade)          4-6:30 p.m.                Meet in the middle school gym

 

Remember – you must have a physical card on file in the athletic office before you can practice.

Student Council will have a meeting today at lunch in Mrs. Vanderbrook's room.

The radio station 107.9 CDY in Cadillac is sponsoring Gown Town 2011.  They are taking donated prom dresses from all over the area and giving them away for FREE at Cadillac Junior High School on Saturday, April 2, beginning at 3:00 pm.  If you have a prom dress you would like to donate, there is a rack outside of Mrs. Richardson's office where they will be collected.  If you need a dress, be sure to attend this event.  There will be other vendors there as well offering accessories, fundraisers, and other items.

Today the cafeteria will be serving mashed potatoes and turkey during lunch.  Monday the

cafeteria will have Bosco sticks.

 

Juniors - there will be a prom decorating meeting with Melissa Walker after school today.

Juniors - we are in need of your help with Mr. Lake City.  We need students to take money for admittance, pass out programs, make baked goods, and sell baked goods and water during the break.  The money made from this goes directly to your after-prom.  The more participation, the

There will be no school this Friday for students due to professional development.

 

Seniors who are going on the senior trip have a mandatory meeting today at 3:05 in the auditorium.

 

Seniors - excellent job on the fundraiser!  Pizza kits will be arriving in the afternoon on Tuesday, February 15.  Please plan ahead and make arrangements to make sure you are able to pick up and transport your orders.

 

NHSers - stop by Ms. Bernier's room to sign up for a t-shirt ASAP.

 

Valentine's Day Candy Grams will be sold at lunch today.  Send a message to a special someone for only 50 cents.  Fill out your paper heart with your message and put the recipients 7th hour teacher on the back.  They will be delivered today with a Valentine's sucker. 

 

Juniors - we have the opportunity to do the 50/50 raffle at the home basketball game Thursday, February 24.  Please see Mrs. Peterson or Mrs. Atkins if you would be willing to help.

Lake City won many awards at the Forensic Tournament at Birch Run this weekend.  The forensics team took 2nd place.  Alex Langmesser placed 1st and Rachel Gaylord 6th in dramatic interpretation, Sam Snyder took 1st and Deanna 5th in pros, Ethan Hinkston and Jared Wright took 4th in duos, Maeylynn Gallop,  Chelsea Crane, Erin Swanson, Megan Eising, Katherine Hansen, and Jessica Miller placed 5th in multiples, and Sean Harvey, Emily DeForge and Sam Wilton broke into semi-finals.

Seniors who are going on the senior trip have a mandatory meeting on Monday at 3:05 in the auditorium.

 

Seniors - excellent job on the fundraiser!  Pizza kits will be arriving in the afternoon on Tuesday, February 15.  Please plan ahead and make arrangements to make sure you are able to pick up and transport your orders.

 

Matchmaker forms will be available in the lobby today for $2.00. Maybe you're compatible with that special someone you've had your eye on and for $2.00 you can find out.

 

Valentine's Day Candy Grams will be sold at lunch through next Monday.  Send a message to a special someone for only 50 cents.  Fill out your paper heart with your message and put the recipients 7th hour teacher on the back.  They will be delivered on Valentine's Day with a Valentine's sucker. 

 

The Air Force has 10 free tickets to give students to the Snocross – Traxxas Motown Nationals at the Pontiac Silverdome, this Saturday, February 12, at 7:00 p.m.  If you would like a ticket, sign up in the office.

 

There are several nice items in the office lost and found. If you have lost an item, please check the office this week, as they will only be held until the end of today.

 

Reed City 3 on 3 basketball tournament registration forms are available outside the office.

 

Juniors - we have the opportunity to do the 50/50 raffle at the home basketball game Thursday, February 24.  Please see Mrs. Peterson or Mrs. Atkins if you would be willing to help.

COUNSELOR'S CORNER

 

This weekend is the kick off for Lake City's Winter Blast.  There will be a lot of events taking place in town this weekend and next, check it out.  Missaukee Mountain will be having their Family Fun Day this Sunday with skiing, snowboarding, and sledding.  Races will be held beginning at 1:00 p.m.  Get out this weekend and enjoy the up-north winter in Lake City!
