Congratulations to our Student of the Week - Mikayla Ardis.

 

It is time to sign up for the Mr. Lake City competition.  This is for junior and senior boys.  If you are interested in helping raise funds for a very worthwhile event, please consider being a contestant.  It is always a fun event!  There will be students with a sign-up sheet during lunch today. It is only open to the first 12 students who sign up as contestants, so sign up today!

 

Any freshmen who has already paid their dues, see Mrs. Peterson as soon as possible.  There was a problem with our records and we need to be sure you get credit for paying.  If you do not see me, I will assume you still need to pay.  If you haven’t paid, pay your $5 to Mrs. Atkins or Mrs. Peterson.

 

Freshmen - we are responsible for the raffle at the boys basketball game tonight.  Sign up to help!

 

If you would like to donate bottled water to the Flint residents, please drop the water off to

Mrs. Vokes.  We will be taking donation for the next two weeks.

 

Science tutoring is scheduled in Mrs. Thom’s room from 3:20-4:00 after school today.

 

If you lost a Fit Bit type watch, please see Mr. Bongard.

 

COUNSELOR’S CORNER                                                                                                                

 

There is a mandatory meeting 4th hour today for all students enrolled in an Independent Study or Dual Enrollment course with Mrs. Richardson.  It will only be 15 minutes, but you must be there!  Go to your 4th hour class for attendance and then directly to the Foods Room 13.

 

Seniors - there will be a Mechatronics Information Session for prospective students on Monday, February 22 at CTC.  This is part of the MAT Squared program that offers free tuition and guaranteed employment at a local manufacturer.  The sessions are from 10–11 or 12:30–1:30.  Prospective students and parents are welcome to check out this opportunity.

 

There is still room left to attend the Careers for Women Conference at the Fox Hill Event Center.  Today is the last day to sign up in the office.  It is a great opportunity!

 

Baker College of Cadillac is hosting College Goal Sunday, February 14, from 2-4 p.m. for families who would like assistance completing their 16-17 FAFSA. 

 

Any junior or senior who is interested in taking the ASVAB test, please pick up a registration form from Mrs. Richardson.  It will be given at CTC on Wednesday, February 24.  You will ride the CTC bus over and back that day.  In addition to testing military aptitude, this test also acts as a career exploration tool for all students.

 

ATHLETICS

 

The JV/Varsity boys basketball team takes on NMC tonight beginning at 6 p.m.

 

Saturday – wrestling at Manistee beginning at 10 a.m.

 

There is a baseball sign-up in the auditorium at 12:15 today for anyone interested in playing.

 

If you are interested in the Reed City 3 on 3 Coyote Classic, pick up a registration sheet in the office.

 

There is no Open Gym this Saturday for girls softball due to the gym being used.

Baker College of Cadillac is hosting College Goal Sunday, February 14, from 2-4 p.m. for families who would like assistance completing their 16-17 FAFSA. 

 

Any junior or senior who is interested in taking the ASVAB test, please pick up a registration form from Mrs. Richardson.  It will be given at CTC on Wednesday, February 24.  You will ride the CTC bus over and back that day.  In addition to testing military aptitude, this test also acts as a career exploration tool for all students.

 

9th and 10th grade students – the CTC Agriscience and Natural Resources program is offering evening classes for students interested in learning about all aspects of agriculture and developing leadership skills.  You will become a member of the FFA and complete a hands-on agricultural experience.  Classes run every Tuesday from Tuesday, March 15 to May 17, from 6-8 p.m.  If you are interested, see Mrs. Richardson for a registration form.

 

ATHLETICS

 

The JV/Varsity girls basketball team takes on Marion tonight beginning at 5 p.m.

 

The wrestling team travels to Houghton Lake tonight. Bus departs at 4:40, match starts at 6 p.m.

Seniors going on the senior trip - your advisors will be holding a meeting tomorrow during lunch.

 

Sophomore class officers have a short meeting in the library at lunch today. 

 

Freshmen who have paid their dues need to see Mrs. Peterson, if they have not already done so.  Those who still need to pay their $5 dues, please do so as soon as possible.  Next year dues will be $10 and must be paid to go on the senior trip.  Also, freshmen will be doing the 50/50 raffle this Thursday, and next Friday, during the basketball games.  Please sign up with Mrs. Atkins or

Mrs. Peterson if you can help sell raffle tickets.

There will be late night skiing at Missaukee Mountain this Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Match-Maker forms must be turned in to Mr. Thom today. They will be sent out this afternoon.

Students – remember to be on time tomorrow morning for fifth through seventh hour exams.  There will be no CTC.  It will be a half day of school with dismissal at 11:40.

Pine River is offering "free admission" to the Pine River vs. Lake City game at Pine River tonight. A six pack of water will get an individual into the game free and a case (24 or more) will get a family in for free.  Pine River is teaming up with Lake City in our water drive for Flint.

9th and 10th grade students – the CTC Agriscience and Natural Resources program is offering evening classes for students interested in learning about all aspects of agriculture and developing leadership skills.  You will become a member of the FFA and complete a hands-on agricultural experience.  Classes run every Tuesday from Tuesday, March 15 to May 17, from 6-8 p.m.  If you are interested, see Mrs. Richardson for a registration form.

 

10th and 11th grade girls – the annual Careers for Women Conference, put on by CTC, will be held on Tuesday, February 9 at the Fox Hill Event Center.  We will ride the CTC bus over and back and lunch will be provided.  If you are interested in attending, please sign up by Wednesday, February 3 in the office.  There is a limit of 20 who can attend.  See Mrs. Richardson if you have any questions.  There will be some great speakers!

 

Seniors - remember that you should be working on your scholarship applications. Scholarships and FAFSA may be found on the website.  Many scholarship apps are due by February 1st and the FAFSA is due by March 1st.

 

ATHLETICS

 

JV/Varsity boys basketball vs Marion, home, game starts at 6:00 p.m.

 

Saturday – wrestling at Grayling, match starts at 9:00 a.m.

 

Caberfae Red Cards are available again this year.  Red Cards are $1 and can be purchased in the high school office.

 

Winter season passes are available in the athletic office or at any home game. $50 per family, $10 per student

Congratulations to the Student of the Week - Jessy Taylor.

 

Seniors - orders for senior shirts will be taken during lunch this week.  Money must be turned in with your order.  If you plan on going on the senior trip, your dues must be paid in full by this Friday.  If you collected money for the fundraiser, please turn in ASAP.  We will do another big order once we get more money turned in.

Honor roll students going to YMCA on Friday, please meet in the lobby by 8:10. Those choosing to swim, please remember your suit and towel.  If school should be cancelled due to bad weather, it will be moved to a future date.

There is no tutoring today with Mrs. Vanderbrook.  Mrs. Peterson will hold Algebra tutoring after school today from 3:30-3:55.  Science tutoring is scheduled after school tomorrow with Mrs. Thom.
