Today at the end of 6th hour beginning at 2:10 p.m. there will be a short meeting for presenters and performers for Senior Oscar Night in the gym.

 

Anyone who did not get a permission slip and information packet for the senior trip, pick one up from Mrs. Peterson a.s.a.p.  Your permission slip/medical information slip is due back by April 30.  No exceptions!  Get them in NOW

Also, if you have not paid your additional $10.00, get that to Mrs. Peterson a.s.a.p. as well.

What is Forensics?  Isn’t that what they do on CSI?  Come to the Food Factory on Sunday, April 29 at 6:00 p.m. to learn what Forensics is really about, because it is not all about blood and guts!  Enjoy performances by your classmates at they prepare to advance to the state finals May 4 and 5 at Western Michigan University.

Seniors – on Friday you will be going to Baker College for the Senior Institute.  Please meet in the lobby when the bell rings at 8:15 in the morning.  We will be back about 11:30 a.m.  Seniors who have p.m. CTC can be dropped off at CTC on the way back.  You are school excused for all of your a.m. classes, but may need to make up work that you miss.

Grades 9 – 11 – if you have not done your schedule requests for next year, you need to do so this week.   Log in to your PowerSchool account and go under “Class Registration”.  Everything is explained on there.  If you can’t get on your account or have questions, see Mrs. Richardson a.s.a.p.  The ability to request or make changes will be closed at the end of the day this Friday!

 

The Michigan Department of Transportation is looking for summer help.  You must be at least 16 and be able to work 40 hours per week, Monday through Thursday, throughout the summer.  Applications can be picked up at the Transportation Service Center at 7915 US 131 Highway in Cadillac (near the State Police Post, just past Highpoint and VanDries).  Application deadline is April 30th and interviews will be conducted that Tuesday through Friday.  For more information contact Lake City graduate- Amber VanderStow at 231-342-2738.

Baker College is offering its last driver’s education class until summer.  Classes begin April 26.  Information and applications are located outside the office.  If you have any questions please contact Mr. Yeomans during your lunch period or before or after school.

We will be taking 2 busses over and back.  This is an event being put on by CTC, Baker and many area businesses for all seniors within the ISD.  It is going to be good information for life after high school and a great morning away!  All graduating seniors will be expected to attend.  The busses will leave at 8:15 and return about 11:30 a.m. See Mrs. Richardson if you have any questions.

The Huron-Manistee National Forest has two summer job openings through the Youth Conservation Corps at the supervisor’s office in Cadillac.  The positions are full time, not to exceed 8 weeks, June 18 - August 10.  Applications will be accepted at the Cadillac office between April 16 and May 4.  Applications are available in Mrs. Richardson’s office.

 

JUNIORS– if you are interested in retaking the ACT, you need to register online at www.actstudent.org.  You will need the score report you just received and will use your ID number on the report to log into your account.  Retakes are June, September, October and December.  Deadlines to register are about a month before the test date and most dates use Cadillac High School as a test center.

NHSers:  There are a few volunteer opportunities that have come up this week.  Please stop in and see

Join us for a night of fun activities and great prizes.  Pick up an After Prom contract in the lobby during lunch.  All those who attend will receive a       t-shirt.  The last day to turn in your contract is tomorrow.  This is a free event to all students attending prom.

Prom tickets are on sale during lunch.  Cost is $30.00 per ticket – that includes your picture, a photo keychain, snacks, and drinks.  If you are unable to purchase your ticket at noon, see Mrs. McNalley, or Ms. Morse.  Prom is scheduled for Saturday, April 14 at The Eldorado in Cadillac.  If you plan to bring a guest to prom who is not a LCHS student, you must register in the office.  Your guest must be under the age of 21 (not older than 20) and have the approval of Mr. Peterson.

Mid Michigan Community College is hosting its annual College Day Open House Event at their Harrison campus.  It is this Friday, April 13, from 9 – 11 a.m.  Seniors, if you haven’t decided on a college, this is a great opportunity.  There will be over 40 college reps attending.  You can also check out Mid Michigan CC, which would be a great place to start.  Juniors, this would also be a great way to start looking at colleges and getting information to plan college visits this summer!

The Huron-Manistee National Forest has two summer job openings through the Youth Conservation Corps at the supervisor’s office in Cadillac.  The positions are full time, not to exceed 8 weeks, June 18 - August 10.  Applications will be accepted at the Cadillac office between April 16 and May 4.  Applications are available in Mrs. Richardson’s office.

 

JUNIORS– if you are interested in retaking the ACT, you need to register online at www.actstudent.org.  You will need the score report you just received and will use your ID number on the report to log into your account.  Retakes are June, September, October and December.  Deadlines to register are about a month before the test date and most dates use Cadillac High School as a test center.
