There will be no school for students Monday due to professional development.

 

Juniors Prom Committee – we will be having a meeting in Mrs. Peterson's room on Friday, January 21, starting at lunch and into part of 5th hour.  Please go there right after you get your food.  We will be meeting with Lifetouch.

 

Lake City Christian Reformed Church will host a blood drive on Friday, January 21 from noon until 5:45 p.m.

 

Seniors – this is your last day to pay your class dues in full.  See Ms. Bernier or Mrs. Phillips if you have any questions.

 

Mock Rock is coming! This year it will be on Saturday, February 5, so get your act together and start getting your act together. Application forms will be available in the office beginning Wednesday, and are due to Mrs. Vanderbrook or Mr. Thom by Thursday, January 27.  

 

Juniors and Seniors – counselor applications for Camp Rotary are in the office.  You may pick them up during lunch or before or after school.  Applications must be returned to the office by January 28.

 

Parents and Students – "The Missaukee County Road Commission requests your cooperation through the winter months while snowplowing is taking place.  We ask that you be aware of the fact that the plows are on the roads many mornings at the same times that the buses are picking up students.  We urge you to make sure that your children wait a safe distance from the plowed portion of the roadway until the bus actually arrives at their stop.  It is important that we work together to make certain of their safety."  If you have any questions regarding the above or any other snow removal problems, feel free to call:  Kelly Bekken, Manager of Missaukee County Road Commission at 839-4361.

9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Fox Hill Event Center in Cadillac.  There will be speakers from different career areas and lunch will be provided.  If you are interested in attending, sign up on the sheet in the office.

Attention 8th grade students:  You may pay your Greenfield Village trip tuition in the office.  Stop in before school or during your lunch.

Attention 6th grade students:  You may pay your Camp Rotary tuition in the office.  Stop in before school or during your lunch.

The Missaukee County Road Commission requests your cooperation through the winter months while snowplowing is taking place.  We ask that you be aware of the fact that the plows are on the roads many mornings at the same time that the buses are picking students up.  We urge you to make sure that you wait a safe distance from the plowed portion of the roadway until the bus actually arrives at your stop.  It is important that we work together to make certain of your safety.

A reminder to students walking to the high school/elementary building, you need to go one street towards town and then walk to the other building.  You are not to walk on Houghton Street. Along this same note, students should not be walking through someone’s yard to get to or from school.  Please walk on the sidewalk or road’s edge.

Students: Remember if you are absent from school you or your parents can check the teachers’ blog to see what assignments you missed.

NHSers - there will be an NHS meeting tomorrow morning at 7:51 in Ms. Bernier's room.  Be on time and bring your planners.


Freshman – the annual vision screening sponsored by the local Health Department will be held today.  A recheck will be done in about one month.  The technician will contact your parent/guardian after the recheck if you do not pass the screening and further attention is needed.  The screening results will be shared with the school unless a parent requests otherwise.

Seniors - if you are not happy with the elastic bottoms of your sweatpants, an exchange can be made.  Let Ms. Bernier or Mrs. Phillips know today by lunch.  This is only if you want the open bottom sweats.  If we can call it in today, the sweats will be here before Christmas vacation.  Also, you must return your sweats today or Monday.

 

Seniors - class motto, song, flower and color nominations are due to Mrs. Phillips or Ms. Bernier by the end of the day on Wednesday, December 15.  Songs must include title, artist and lyrics for approval; motto must include the quote and author.

All requests for transcripts to be sent to colleges must now be done through Docufide!  The web address is www.docufide.com. There is a link under For Students on our website.  You need to set up an account and make the request.  There are flyers in the pockets outside of Mrs. Richardson's office with instructions if needed.

 

 

ATHLETICS

 

The LCHS varsity boys and girls basketball teams will play Houghton Lake at The Palace on Sunday, December 19.  The girls game begins at 12:00 p.m. (noon), and the boys game will follow.  Cost is $30.00 for a ticket.  This allows you to stay for the Pistons game.  The charter bus is full.  If we can get 56 people to sign up and pay for another bus by Friday, December 10, we will take a second bus.  Cost to ride the bus is $20.00 per person.

 

Caberfae Peaks red cards are here!  Red card holders receive a discount on lift tickets and ski or board rentals on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays.  Cost is $1.00 – good for the entire winter season.  See Ms. Gilson to purchase yours.

Seniors – turn in your senior picture, baby picture, and quote to Danie Baldwin, Jimmy Hollars, or Mrs. Atkins by December 20.  If these items are not received your Lifetouch picture will be used.

 

The return of Super Awesome Fun Night will be this Friday, December 10, from 6:30 – 11:00 p.m.  Cost is $3.00 for the evening, with money going toward Challenge Day.  This is for all high school students.  There will be snacks, board games, movies, basketball, volleyball, video games, hanging out and having fun! 

 

Sophomores - Jostens will be here Thursday, December 9, from 7:45- 8:15 a.m. to distribute class rings.  They will have a table set up in the lobby.
