Thank you to the staff and students who donated blood yesterday.  We exceeded our goal for the day by 11 pints.  Thanks for helping to save lives!

 

Reminder to all student council members - we will be counting and delivering the food drive donations today after school. You must attend.

HATS ON DAY!  Wednesday anyone who wants to promote Stand-up to Bullying and Tolerance of Others may wear a hat and a sticker, for a $1.00 donation.  You will be able to purchase your sticker and hat-wearing privilege in the morning at each high school building entrance.  You must have a No Bullying sticker visible to wear your hat.  Anyone wearing a hat that is not properly supporting our tolerance of others/anti-bullying will be asked to remove their hat.  So pick out your favorite head covering to support this awesome cause Wednesday.

The annual food drive has begun. Please bring in non-perishable food to your class advisor’s room through Tuesday, November 20. Not only will you be helping those less fortunate, but your class will grab a percentage of the 40 spirit points up for grabs.

The annual high school LEAD Conference is coming up in a few weeks.  It is a day to help build leadership skills focusing on communication, confidence, collaboration and technology.  This is put on by the Cadillac Leadership group of the Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by CTC and other area businesses.  It is Wednesday, December 5, all day, at CTC.  The cost is $10 and includes lunch.  If you are interested, see Mrs. Richardson right away for a registration form.

 

There will be a Go To meeting on Wednesday, November 14 during 7th hour in the auditorium.  Check in with your 3rd hour teacher for attendance and then head down.  Bring paper, writing utensils, and your calendars!

Reminder to students that walk between the two buildings: You must walk up to Huron Street then walk over to the main building. Students are not to walk on Houghton Street.


The Missaukee County Road Commission.... ....requests your cooperation through the winter months while snowplowing is taking place. We ask that you be aware of the fact that the plows are on the roads many mornings at the same times that the buses are picking up students. We urge you to make sure that your children wait a safe distance from the plowed portion of the roadway until the bus actually arrives at their stop. It is important that we work together to make certain of their safety.


Boys basketball season The boys host Evart tonight. Game will start at 5 pm


November schedule Today is a half day of school. We will run homeroom, 5th hour, 6th hour and 7th hour. Students will be released at 11:24 am. School will not be in session on tomorrow -- Thursday, November 15 due to the deer season opener. Next week school will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 22 and 23 due to the Thanksgiving holiday.


Attention 6th grade girls: The girls basketball coaching staff & players invite 6th grade girls to their Skills Camp on Saturday mornings from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. the skills camp will be offered on November 17, December 1, and December 8. The camp will cost $20 to attend, and on December 8 we will have t-shirts and a skills book for everyone who participated. Registration forms are in the office. Please return the registration form to the middle school office by this Friday, November 16.


Snowmobile training: The Missaukee County Sheriff’s Department is offering snowmobile training on December 8 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.. The class is free; students must bring a sack lunch. Call to register: 839-4338.


Cribbage! Attention cribbage players! Anyone interested in forming a cribbage club? We would meet once a week after school. If you do not know how to play, we will teach you how. Great fun, something to do! For more details, see Mr. Melvoin


Hats On Days! Next Wednesday, November 21, Student Council will be hosting Hats On Day to raise money for The Foundation for Children with Cancer. Simply donate any amount of money and you get to wear a hat all day. Student Council members need to report to Mrs. Gottschall's room Friday during homeroom.

8th grade boys basketball team lost a close game to Pine  River last night – 33 to 39. Excellent job not giving up in the 4th quarter. The 7th grade beat Pine River 24-6.

Yacsters – there will be a YAC regional training in Cadillac on Sunday, November 11from 2-6 p.m.  A few of you attended last year and had a great time.  If you are interested in attending this year, please sign up on the sheet outside Ms. Morse’s room ASAP.  Also, remember to stop by Ms. Morse’s room at lunch today and grab your flyers for your decorated Fingers and Toes boxes.

A spectator bus (tour bus) is scheduled to  leave Lake City High School at 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 10.  Cost is $45.00 per person. Basketball cheer team tryouts will be held in the cafeteria Tuesday through Thursday, November 6-8, from 4-5:30 pm.  You MUST have a physical on file in the high school athletic office in order to

try-out.  Be dressed for practice. Any questions, please call Mrs. Vokes at the middle school office.

 

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL – remember your banquet is tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria.

Congratulations to the Student of the Week – Garrett Wilson. 

 

YAC-sters – please go to Ms. Morse’s room at noon today to pick up the flyers for your Fingers and   Toes boxes.  Remember, you need to have your boxes decorated and out to your businesses by MONDAY, November 5.

 

There will be a half-day of school for students Wednesday, November 14, with no afternoon CTC. 

 

Student council will meet during lunch today in Mrs. VanderBrook’s room.

 

Remember to claim your spirit point on your way to lunch today.

 

COUNSELOR’S CORNER

 

Volunteers are needed to work at the Eastern Star Hunter’s Supper Thursday, November 15, from 4:30 – 8:30 p.m. (you can work just part of the time) at the Masonic Temple in Lake City.  This is another great volunteering opportunity in your community and for NHS service hours.  Sign up in

The American Legion Auxiliary is looking for some volunteers to help with their annual Veteran’s Day Dinner.  It will be held Saturday, November 10 and workers are needed from 4:30-7:30 or 8:00 pm.  Another great opportunity to volunteer in our community and to honor and serve veterans!  Sign up in Mrs. Richardson’s office.

 

Northern Michigan University will be here Wednesday, November 7.  You may sign up in the office before or after school or during lunch.

 

ATHLETICS

 

Tickets for tonight’s district football game will be on sale until 3:00 p.m. today.  Cost is $5.00

each.  Passes will not be accepted.  Students may purchase tickets during lunch – not during

class time. 

 

GIRLS BASKETBALL – first day of practice is Monday, November 5.  Varsity and JV will practice from 3:30-5:30 p.m.

 

WRESTLING – guys, don’t forget that your weigh-in has been scheduled for Wednesday, November 7 at 7:00 p.m.  Meet in the boys locker room.
