*STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS*

GENERAL

1.  Students interested in exempting from a 1st semester exam must submit a completed application to the office no later than 3:30 p.m. today.  Applications are located in the high school wall pocket outside the office doors.

2.  All activities forms need to be turned in by the end of the day today, even if you are planning on going home.

3.  Attention Seniors – There is a senior class meeting today at 11:30 in the auditorium.  Bring something to write with.  AM CTC students come to the meeting when you get back, PM CTC when you finish lunch.

4.  The Christian Reformed Church is sponsoring a blood drive today after school until 5:45pm.  You must be 17 and weigh at least 110 lbs to donate.

5.  Any Juniors or seniors interested in playing in the staff vs. student basketball game needs to sign up in the office by Monday.

6.  Anyone willing to bring in their “guitar hero” or “rock star” game system, please see Mrs. VanderBrook by lunch today.

7.  Attention Student Council: Anyone that is available today at lunch and after school until 4, please help with activities day stuff.  Come to Mrs. VanderBrook’s Room.

8.  There is a Prom Committee meeting on Monday, 1/12 at 12:00 in Mrs. Colecchio’s office.

 

COUNSELOR’S CORNER

1.  Challenge of the Week – "Make a positive New Year's resolution for yourself."

2.  Volunteer Tutoring Position available – We are looking for someone who would want to tutor elementary students at Larsen’s Early Learning Center, 1 or 2 days per week, for one hour after school.  If you are interested, please see Mrs. Richardson.  This is a great opportunity for volunteering time to add to applications, resume’s, etc.  This will count toward NHS volunteer hours.

3.  Seniors – all local scholarship applications, that don’t have a due date and place to mail it listed, are due to me by the end of the day next Friday, 1/16.  If you are asking teachers for letters of recommendation, please give them plenty of notice.  Next week is exam week and everyone is busy.  If you weren’t able to make it to Financial Aid Night and want the information, stop in my office.  Mrs. Richardson

4.  The Youth Exchange and Study Abroad program can provide full scholarships for American teens to live and study in a YES partner country for one year.  If you are between 15-18 and have a minimum of 3.0 GPA and are interested in studying and living in another country, visit www.yesprograms.org.  Applications for full scholarships are due by February 2nd, 2009 (select PAX when filling out the app).

5.  10th and 11th grade girls!  There is going to be a Seminar called Careers for Women held at CTC on Wednesday, Feb 4th all day.  Lunch will be provided.  This will provide high school girls an opportunity to explore exciting non-traditional careers for women such as: Meteorologist, Veterinarian, Conservation Officer, Information Tech, State Police Trooper and more.  If you are interested and will COMMIT to going for the day, sign up in Mrs. Richardson’s office by January 28th.  Space is limited.

JV & Varsity Boys Basketball – Home – Evart – 6:00

 

Saturday – 1/10 – JV & Varsity Girls Basketball – Away – Mancelona – 6:00pm – Bus departs 4:00pm

 

Cheer practice will be in the cafeteria at the high school and not Ms. Ellis’ room.  Report to the cafeteria ready to practice at 4 p.m.
