COUNSELOR’S CORNER

Challenge of the Week – "Make a positive New Year's resolution for yourself."

There will be a Go To Team meeting today, 1/8, during 7th hour.  Check in with your teacher and then go to the auditorium.  If you need to be in class, it is okay to miss the meeting.

Volunteer Tutoring Position available – We are looking for someone who would want to tutor elementary students at Larsen’s Early Learning Center, 1 or 2 days per week, for one hour after school.  If you are interested, please see Mrs. Richardson.  This is a great opportunity for volunteering time to add to applications, resume’s, etc.  This will count toward NHS volunteer hours.

Seniors – all local scholarship applications, that don’t have a due date and place to mail it listed, are due to me by the end of the day next Friday, 1/16.  If you are asking teachers for letters of recommendation, please give them plenty of notice.  Next week is exam week and everyone is busy.  If you weren’t able to make it to Financial Aid Night and want the information, stop in my office.  Mrs. Richardson

The Youth Exchange and Study Abroad program can provide full scholarships for American teens to live and study in a YES partner country for one year.  If you are between 15-18 and have a minimum of 3.0 GPA and are interested in studying and living in another country, visit www.yesprograms.org.  Applications for full scholarships are due by February 2nd, 2009 (select PAX when filling out the app).
