COUNSELOR’S CORNER

 

Grayling High School will be holding their annual prom dress resale from 9-6:00 p.m. on Saturday, February. 9.  You can go there to buy or sell homecoming or prom dresses.  You need to contact the counseling office there by February 5 if you want to sell.  If you want to buy, go to the event where there will be 300-500 to choose from, cash sales only.  If you have questions, contact Teresa at 989-344-3512.

 

Tutoring is scheduled for Wednesday, January 23 with Mrs. VanderBrook in room 13.

NHS – remember that your service hours for the first semester are due Monday morning by 8:15.  If you are still in need of hours, don’t forget the animal shelter, recycling center, and Friends Ministry.  They are open on Saturdays.

Copies of the master schedule have been posted for second semester.  If you need to make a change, fill out a schedule change form and turn it in to the box in the office asap.  You will receive a copy of your second semester schedule today during your class meeting, or you can look at your PowerSchool account on Monday.

SENIOR ATHLETES – applications are available for the MIAAA Scholarship (Michigan Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association).  We can submit only one male and one female for this scholarship.  If interested see Ms. Gilson for selection criteria and an application.  Deadline for this application is tomorrow, January 18.

 

Any girl that is interested in playing softball - there will be a meeting today in Mr. Sarau’s room at 3:10. If you cannot make it to the meeting sign up with Mr. Sarau before the end of the day tomorrow.

 

Guys – if you missed the baseball meeting yesterday and are interested in playing baseball this spring, you must sign up with Ms. Gilson asap.

Lake City Middle School Bulletin for Wednesday, January 16, 2013

The Missaukee County Road Commission.... ....requests your cooperation through the winter months while snowplowing is taking place. We ask that you be aware of the fact that the plows are on the roads many mornings at the same times that the buses are picking up students. We urge you to make sure that your children wait a safe distance from the plowed portion of the roadway until the bus actually arrives at their stop. It is important that we work together to make certain of their safety.


6th grade Camp Rotary health forms are due January 22.


8th grade Greenfield Village trip tuition money is due on January 18th.


High school weight room is open for any 8th graders, especially those who are planning on playing football next year. The weight room is open Mondays, Wednesday and Thursdays.


Missaukee Library Battle of the Books This week is your last chance to register for books. The program is free and open to 4th through 6th graders. Please contact Michelle at the library for more information – 839-2166.


Middle School Yearbooks Orders are now being taken for the 2012/2013 year books. Order forms are available in the office or the library. The cost is $15 and the deadline is March 15th.

The Annual Careers for Women conference will be held on Tuesday, February 5 at Fox Hill Event Center in Cadillac.  It will be an all-day event highlighting non-traditional careers for women.  There are several speakers lined up to make for an interesting day.  Lunch will be provided.  High school girls in 10th–12th grade may sign up in Mrs. Richardson’s office if interested.

A locker clean-out has been scheduled for Thursday, December 20 during 2nd hour.  The schedule

is as follows:  9th grade 9:15-9:25, 10th grade 9:25-9:35, 11th grade 9:35-9:45, and 12th grade

9:45-9:55.

 

Seniors – now is the time to turn in your senior picture, baby picture, and a quote.  Submit these items to Mrs. Atkins, Brittany Goudos-Weisbecker, or Brittany DuVall by Friday.

 

Congratulations to our Student of the Week – Makenzie Peterson.

 

SOPHOMORES – if you were not able to pick up your class ring on Wednesday, see Ms. Gilson.  She will have them in the office until Tuesday, December 18.

 

The pencil machine is restocked with mechanical pencils for 50 cents each.  Please see

Mrs. VanderBrook if you have any difficulties getting a pencil out.

 

YACsters – please remember to come to Ms. Morse’s room today at noon.  We need to deliver the goodies to the upper elementary.  If you signed up to purchase a gift for an Autumnwood resident and haven’t delivered your gifts to Ms. Morse yet, stop by and tell her the status of that gift.  They need to be purchased by tomorrow at the very latest.  If you volunteered to wrap presents stop by and see Ms. Morse today. Thank you!

 

Camp Rotary counselor packets will be available after school for all interested seniors, juniors and sophomores.

 

Math tutoring is scheduled for Thursday, December 20 in Mr. Bongard’s room.

 

Any junior interested in participating in a fundraiser come to Mr. Bongard’s room at 11:50 a.m. today.  If you cannot leave class please stop and see him sometime today.

ATHLETICS

 

Girls JV/Varsity basketball @ Mancelona, bus departs at 4:15 p.m., game starts at 6:00 p.m.

 

NEW WRESTLERS – a reminder that your alpha weigh-in is today.  Meet by the boys locker room in the gym at 4:30 p.m.

 

SENIOR ATHLETES – applications are available for the MIAAA scholarship (Michigan Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association).  We can submit only one male and one female for this scholarship.  If interested see Ms. Gilson for selection criteria and an application.  Deadline for applications is January 18.
