GENERAL

NHS members -- All your service hours need to be turned in to Ms. Bernier by 8:15 A.M. Tuesday morning.  New members must have 8, elder members must have 15.  Remember that for each additional meeting missed after the first, you must do an additional hour of community service.

 

Mobile Dentist will be here February 23, 24, & 25.  Mobile dentist gives cleanings, takes x-rays, places sealants, and gives check-ups.  Medicaid, MI Child and most private insurances are accepted.  Pick a form up in the office and return by Monday, January 26.  See Mrs. Holly in the elementary if you have questions.

10^th and 11^th grade girls!  There is going to be a Seminar called Careers for Women held at CTC on Wednesday, Feb 4^th all day.  Lunch will be provided.  This will provide high school girls an opportunity to explore exciting non-traditional careers for women such as: Meteorologist, Veterinarian, Conservation Officer, Information Tech, State Police Trooper and more.  If you are interested and will COMMIT to going for the day, sign up in Mrs. Richardson’s office by January 28th.  Space is limited.

Volunteer Tutoring Position available – We are looking for someone who would want to tutor elementary students at Larsen’s Early Learning Center, 1 or 2 days per week, for one hour after school.  If you are interested, please see Mrs. Richardson.  This is a great opportunity for volunteering time to add to applications, resume’s, etc.  This will count toward NHS volunteer hours.

 

The Youth Exchange and Study Abroad program can provide full scholarships for American teens to live and study in a YES partner country for one year.  If you are between 15-18 and have a minimum of 3.0 GPA and are interested in studying and living in another country, visit www.yesprograms.org.  Applications for full scholarships are due by February 2^nd, 2009 (select PAX when filling out the app).

1.  Students interested in exempting from a 1st semester exam must submit a completed application to the office no later than 3:30 p.m. today.  Applications are located in the high school wall pocket outside the office doors.

2.  All activities forms need to be turned in by the end of the day today, even if you are planning on going home.

3.  Attention Seniors – There is a senior class meeting today at 11:30 in the auditorium.  Bring something to write with.  AM CTC students come to the meeting when you get back, PM CTC when you finish lunch.

4.  The Christian Reformed Church is sponsoring a blood drive today after school until 5:45pm.  You must be 17 and weigh at least 110 lbs to donate.

GENERAL

Seniors – your senior info and pictures are due before Christmas.  Please get this in as soon as possible to Mrs. Atkins or Hayley Mund.  There are only 3 days left.

 

Anyone interested in being a Camp Rotary Counselor needs to sign up in the office and pick up a packet.

 

Attention YACsters:  Please remember you should already have picked up your "Fingers and Toes" donation boxes.  Please bring any additional donations that you have received to Ms. Morse's room as soon as possible.   Thanks!

 

The Go To Team will have a meeting on Thursday during Lunch in Room 11.  We have some exciting news so please try to be there.  Also, we are having a cake raffle during Friday night’s game and we need cakes and workers.  Be prepared to sign up!

Challenge of the Week – Help make the holidays enjoyable and special for you and those around you.

 

JUNIORS – The Discover Scholarship Program awards diverse high school juniors on their exemplary achievements in Leadership and Community Service while overcoming obstacles.  Applications for the scholarship program are available at www.discoverfinancial.com/community.  The application deadline is January 31, 2009.

 

Any student that might be interested in a Choir club and possible future Choir program, please meet in room #11 today (Wed) at 12:15pm!  See Mrs. Richardson if you have any questions.

 

 

SPORTS

Freshman Boys Basketball – Home – Benzie Central – 4:15pm

 

JV & Varsity Girls Basketball – Home – Grayling – 6:00pm

 

Caberfae red cards are now on sale.  Cost is $1.00.  See Ms. Gilson before school or during your lunch break.

 

The athletic department has Lake City Trojan lanyards for sale.  (great stocking stuffers!) Cost is $3.00 each or 2 for $5.00.  See Mr. Peterson or Ms. Gilson.
