The Snowcoming dance is Saturday, February 27, from 8-11:15 p.m.  Cost is $5 per person and it is semi-formal.  Guest forms may be picked up in the office before school, after school, or during lunch.

Completed guest forms must be turned in to the office by Wednesday, February 24.

 

Boys who have signed up, or are interested in signing up, for the Powder-Tuff volleyball game on Saturday, February 27, there will be a short meeting at 12:20 in Mrs. Phillips’ room today.  Please be prompt.  It will not take long.  If you are a CTC student, please check in with Mrs. Phillips or

Ms. Bernier.

 

Next week is chill week! Monday is PJ Day, Tuesday is Twin Day, Wednesday is Beach Day,

Thursday is USA Day, and then Red Pride Friday! Please dress appropriately and have fun!

 

Seniors – pictures for the 2016 graduate composite will be taken this Monday from 7:45 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.  Please have your hair and make-up done and be ready for your picture that morning.  Pictures will be taken in groups of 5-6 students at a time.  Stay in class until the photographer’s assistant calls you.  Seniors attending morning CTC are to report to the auditorium before leaving for CTC or immediately upon returning.  If you are a counselor for Camp Rotary, please come in and get your picture taken at 7:00 a.m. in the auditorium before you go on the Camp Rotary bus!

 

This is the last chance to purchase the 2016 yearbook; the deadline is March 4.  The cost is $40 payable to LC Yearbook.  The books will arrive in May.  We will not order any additional books, so order yours today.  You may pay a deposit of $20 to place and order, and pay the balance of $20 when the books arrive.  See Mrs. Atkins for any questions.

 

Support the Lake City Booster’s Club by eating with the teams tonight from 5-6 p.m. in the high school cafeteria.  Enjoy a Sloppy Joe dinner with the team! Cost is $5 each or $20 per family.  All proceeds benefit the Lake City Athletic Boosters.

Seniors - lots of deadlines are coming up, check announcements regularly!

The FAFSA deadline is March 1st!  Be sure to be working on it and get it submitted before the first. See Mrs. Richardson if you need information about filling it out. This is the number one thing to do for financial aid and federal and state scholarships!

There will be a drawing for students who fill out the FAFSA and bring in proof!  Prizes will be announced later this week.  Print something from your FSA account showing that your FAFSA has been completed and bring it in to Mrs. Richardson to be entered into a drawing!  The deadline to turn in proof and be entered will be Wednesday, March 2nd!

The ZLP4 and Gary McGiness Memorial Scholarship applications are due to Mrs. Richardson by March 1st.

Juniors interested in helping with the Bro’ Volleyball tournament, grab your lunch and come down to Mrs. Phil’s room for a lunch meeting today and tomorrow.  If you are unable to attend, let us know if you can help.  We need ticket takers, bake sale items and sellers, coaches, concession stand, etc.

Any junior or senior who is interested in taking the ASVAB test, please pick up a registration form from Mrs. Richardson.  It will be given at CTC on Wednesday, February 24.  You will ride the CTC bus over and back that day.  In addition to testing military aptitude, this test also acts as a career exploration tool for all students.

Missaukee Mountain will have skiing Friday from 3-9 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

It is time to sign up for the Mr. Lake City competition.  This is for junior and senior boys.  If you are interested in helping raise funds for a very worthwhile event, please consider being a contestant.  It is always a fun event!  There will be students with a sign-up sheet during lunch today. It is only open to the first 12 students who sign up as contestants, so sign up today!

 

Any freshmen who has already paid their dues, see Mrs. Peterson as soon as possible.  There was a problem with our records and we need to be sure you get credit for paying.  If you do not see me, I will assume you still need to pay.  If you haven’t paid, pay your $5 to Mrs. Atkins or Mrs. Peterson.

9th and 10th grade students – the CTC Agriscience and Natural Resources program is offering evening classes for students interested in learning about all aspects of agriculture and developing leadership skills.  You will become a member of the FFA and complete a hands-on agricultural experience.  Classes run every Tuesday from Tuesday, March 15 to May 17, from 6-8 p.m.  If you are interested, see Mrs. Richardson for a registration form.

Seniors going on the senior trip - your advisors will be holding a meeting tomorrow during lunch.

 

Sophomore class officers have a short meeting in the library at lunch today. 

 

Freshmen who have paid their dues need to see Mrs. Peterson, if they have not already done so.  Those who still need to pay their $5 dues, please do so as soon as possible.  Next year dues will be $10 and must be paid to go on the senior trip.  Also, freshmen will be doing the 50/50 raffle this Thursday, and next Friday, during the basketball games.  Please sign up with Mrs. Atkins or

Come help the Lake City Drama Class solve the mystery in "Ax of Murder" tomorrow, an audience interactive murder mystery!  Tickets are $3 for students, $5 for adults, and play starts at 7:00 p.m.

There will be late night skiing at Missaukee Mountain this Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Match-Maker forms must be turned in to Mr. Thom today. They will be sent out this afternoon.

Congratulations to the Student of the Week – Kathleen Mosher.

 

This Saturday come help the Lake City Drama Class solve the mystery in "Ax of Murder" an audience interactive murder mystery!  Tickets are $3 for students, $5 for adults, and play starts at 7:00 p.m.

Students – remember to be on time tomorrow morning for fifth through seventh hour exams.  There will be no CTC.  It will be a half day of school with dismissal at 11:40.

There will be late night skiing at Missaukee Mountain this Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Algebra tutoring is scheduled after school today in Mrs. VanderBrook’s class.

 

COUNSELOR’S CORNER                                                                                                                

 

The master schedule for 2nd semester is posted near the office.  If you are considering making changes, check the master to see if your changes are possible.  Many classes are full and options for changing are limited.  If you want to make a change, fill out the yellow form that is in the office and turn it in to Mrs. Richardson.  Schedules will be given out next week and change requests will be taken until the end of the day Tuesday, January 26.

 

9th and 10th grade students – the CTC Agriscience and Natural Resources program is offering evening classes for students interested in learning about all aspects of agriculture and developing leadership skills.  You will become a member of the FFA and complete a hands-on agricultural experience.  Classes run every Tuesday from Tuesday, March 15 to May 17, from 6-8 p.m.  If you are interested, see Mrs. Richardson for a registration form.

 

10th and 11th grade girls – the annual Careers for Women Conference, put on by CTC, will be held on Tuesday, February 9 at the Fox Hill Event Center.  We will ride the CTC bus over and back and lunch will be provided.  If you are interested in attending, please sign up by Wednesday, February 3 in the office.  There is a limit of 20 who can attend.  See Mrs. Richardson if you have any questions.  There will be some great speakers!

 

Seniors - remember that you should be working on your scholarship applications. Scholarships and FAFSA may be found on the website.  Many scholarship apps are due by February 1st and the FAFSA is due by March 1st.

 

ATHLETICS

 

JV/Varsity Girls Basketball at Pine River, bus departs at 4:30 p.m., game starts at 6:00 p.m.

 

Pine River is offering "free admission" to the Pine River vs. Lake City game at Pine River tonight. A six pack of water will get an individual into the game free and a case (24 or more) will get a family in for free.  Pine River is teaming up with Lake City in our water drive for Flint.

 

Caberfae Red Cards are available again this year.  Red Cards are $1 and can be purchased in the high school office.

 

Winter season passes are available in the athletic office or at any home game. $50 per family, $10 per student

Students – remember to be on time tomorrow morning for third and fourth hour exams.  Fifth through seventh hour exams are on Friday, with a half day of school dismissing at 11:40.
