Seniors - there will be a meeting for those participating in Mock Rock in Ms. Morse’s room at lunch today.  Please grab your lunch and head on down.

 

Yearbook Cover Photo Contest - the yearbook cover is in need of eight great pictures, and we want your help.  Submit your picture to Mrs. Atkins, and if it is chosen you will receive $5 off the cost of the yearbook and a free name stamp.  Pictures cannot be edited.  Submission deadline is January 30.  See Mrs. Atkins if you have any questions.

The Go To Team Concert Committee, and any other members who want to help with the concert this weekend, please meet in Mrs. Peterson's room at 3:05 p.m. today to finalize things.

Live for Tomorrow Concert - this Saturday, from 7-11 p.m. in the auditorium.  Come for some great music and fun and see this local, emerging band.  David Mund, Nik Vansteenis, Ethan Hinkston and Eddie Avila make up LFT and promise a great show!  Partial proceeds go to the Go To Team for future Challenge Day events

Sophomores – the Michigan Youth Leadership Conference (MYLead) will be held in May.  A local organization is willing to pay for and sponsor two of our students to attend.  It is at MSU and is a great opportunity to learn leadership skills and participate in a life changing experience with other students throughout the state.  If you are interested, see Mrs. Richardson asap.

 

High school girls – the Annual Careers for Women Conference will be held on Tuesday, February 5 all day at Fox Hill Event Center in Cadillac.  Lunch is provided and there will be great speakers on non-traditional careers for women.  Sign up with Mrs. Richardson asap!

The Missaukee County Road Commission.... ....requests your cooperation through the winter months while snowplowing is taking place. We ask that you be aware of the fact that the plows are on the roads many mornings at the same times that the buses are picking up students. We urge you to make sure that your children wait a safe distance from the plowed portion of the roadway until the bus actually arrives at their stop. It is important that we work together to make certain of their safety.


6th grade Camp Rotary health forms are due January 22.


8th grade Greenfield Village trip tuition money is due on January 18th.


High school weight room is open for any 8th graders, especially those who are planning on playing football next year. The weight room is open Mondays, Wednesday and Thursdays.

Seniors – the FAFSA may be filed any time now, as soon as your 2012 taxes are done.  The deadline is March 1.  If you did not make it to Financial Aid Night, you can stop in Mrs. Richardson’s office to get the information.  February 10 is college goal Sunday.  You can take your information to Baker College in Cadillac from 2-4 p.m. and advisors will be available to help you file the FAFSA.

 

Most of the local scholarships are due to Mrs. Richardson by Friday, January 18 by 3:30pm.  If you need letters of recommendation start asking now. Do not wait until the last week.  If you didn’t get the applications at Financial Aid night, you can pick them up in Mrs. Richardson’s office.

Seniors, it is finally 2013!  Since graduation and the senior trip are only a few short months away, please remember that your class dues are due by February 1.  This is the absolute last day dues will be collected.  You must have your dues paid to go on the senior trip.   If you are not sure how much you owe, please see Mrs. McNalley or Storm Francisco

Locker clean out has been rescheduled for Friday, January 4 during 2nd hour.  The schedule is as follows:  9th – 9:15-9:25, 10th – 9:25-9:35, 11th – 9:35-9:45, and 12th – 9:45-9:55.

 

There will be a student council meeting today at 12:10 in Mrs. VanderBrook’s room.  Be on time. 

 

Seniors, it is finally 2013!  Since graduation and the senior trip are only a few short months away, please remember that your class dues are due by February 1.  This is the absolute last day dues will be collected.  You must have your dues paid to go on the senior trip.   If you are not sure how much you owe, please see Mrs. McNalley or Storm Francisco

 

Interested in staying in shape this winter?  Not playing a winter sport?  Bring your friends and join the LC winter running/fitness club!  It starts next week Tuesday.  Stop by Mr. Webb’s room to pick up a flyer with more information if you are interested!

COUNSELOR’S CORNER

 

Seniors – the FAFSA may be filed any time now, as soon as your 2012 taxes are done.  The deadline is March 1.  If you did not make it to Financial Aid Night, you can stop in Mrs. Richardson’s office to get the information.  February 10 is college goal Sunday.  You can take your information to Baker College in Cadillac from 2-4 p.m. and advisors will be available to help you file the FAFSA.

 

Most of the local scholarships are due to Mrs. Richardson by Friday, January 18 by 3:30pm.  If you need letters of recommendation, start asking now, do not wait until the last week.  If you didn’t get the applications at Financial Aid night, you can pick them up in Mrs. Richardson’s office.

 

Juniors and Seniors – if you are interested in the agricultural industry, there will be a presentation for high school students to learn more about the opportunities available in this growing industry on Tuesday, January 15.  It will be held in Lansing put on by the Michigan Agri-Business Association.  Transportation may be available depending on interest.  If you are interested, see Mrs. Richardson right away.  Registration is due next Monday. 

 

The Annual Careers for Women conference will be held on Tuesday, February 5 at Fox Hill Event Center in Cadillac.  It will be an all-day event highlighting non-traditional careers for women.  There are several speakers lined up to make for an interesting day.  Lunch will be provided.  High school girls in 10th–12th grade may sign up in Mrs. Richardson’s office if interested.

Caberfae Peaks discount cards are available in the office.  Cost is $1.00.  Students may purchase cards before school, after school, or during lunch – not during class time.

 

SENIOR ATHLETES – applications are available for the MIAAA Scholarship (Michigan Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association).  We can submit only one male and one female for this scholarship.  If interested see Ms. Gilson for selection criteria and an application.  Deadline for applications is January 18.
