There will be a half-day of school for students Wednesday, November 14, with no afternoon CTC bus and no school on Thursday, November 15. 

 

The annual food drive has begun. Please bring in non-perishable food to your class advisor’s room through Tuesday, November 20. Not only will you be helping those less fortunate, but your class will grab a percentage of the 40 spirit points up for grabs.

 

COUNSELOR’S CORNER

 

Seniors – there will be a presentation on life after high school in the auditorium on Monday, November 12 during 5th hour.  You need to go to class for attendance and then go to the auditorium.  Pizza and pop will also be provided, compliments of Baker College!  This is a fun presentation with great information that will be important to you after graduation.

 

This is the last call for any student interested in dual enrollment for 2nd semester.  If you are interested, you need to see Mrs. Richardson this week.

 

ATHLETICS

 

BASKETBALL – boys basketball try-outs begin Monday, November 12.  JV will meet in the gym from 5-6:30 and varsity 6:30-8:00.  You must have a current physical card on file in the athletic office.  See Ms Gilson if you have questions.

 

WRESTLING – practice begins Monday, November 12 from 5:30-7:00 in the cafeteria.  You must have a current physical card on file in the athletic office.  See Ms. Gilson if you have questions.

Lake City Middle School Bulletin for Thursday, November 08, 2012

Reminder to students that walk between the two buildings: You must walk up to Huron Street then walk over to the main building. Students are not to walk on Houghton Street.


The Missaukee County Road Commission.... ....requests your cooperation through the winter months while snowplowing is taking place. We ask that you be aware of the fact that the plows are on the roads many mornings at the same times that the buses are picking up students. We urge you to make sure that your children wait a safe distance from the plowed portion of the roadway until the bus actually arrives at their stop. It is important that we work together to make certain of their safety.


8th grade boys basketball team lost a close game to Pine  River last night – 33 to 39. Excellent job not giving up in the 4th quarter. The 7th grade beat Pine River 24-6.

November schedule There is a half day of school tomorrow (Friday, November 9) and again on Wednesday, November 14. Students will be released at 11:20 am. School will not be in session on Thursday, November 15 due to the deer season opener. The following week school will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 22 and 23 due to the Thanksgiving holiday.


6th grade girls basketball... There are forms in the office if you are interested in playing 6th grade traveling league basketball.

A spectator bus (tour bus) is scheduled to  leave Lake City High School at 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 10.  Cost is $45.00 per person. The American Legion Auxiliary is looking for some volunteers to help with their annual Veteran’s Day Dinner.  It will be held Saturday, November 10 and workers are needed from 4:30-7:30 or 8:00 pm.  Another great opportunity to volunteer in our community and to honor and serve veterans!  Sign up in Mrs. Richardson’s office.

The class of 2013 will be hosting a Halloween Dance on Saturday, October 27 from 8-11 p.m.  Dress   up and be entered in a raffle to win awesome prizes donated by local businesses.  There is a $5 admission fee. Please enter through the doors by the auditorium. This dance is only for Lake City High School students, and once you leave the dance you may not return.  We hope to see you there!

The 11th Annual Michigan Youth Leadership Conference will be holding two sessions this year, one in May and one in June at MSU. Tickets for the Lake City vs Grand Rapids Northpointe Christian pre-district football game are on saleduring regular school hours. Pre-game ticket sales will end at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 26. See Ms. Gilson at the high school athletic office. All spectators must pay. Season passes, senior citizen passes, league passes, and punch cards will not be accepted.



Senior Athletes – applications are available for the MHSAA-Farm Bureau Scholar Athlete Award. Lake City may submit applications for three boys and three girls. See Ms. Gilson for eligibilityrequirements and an application. Deadline for application is Wednesday, November 19.



Wrestlers – MC Sports is offering a 20% discount on wrestling shoes and knee pads.



The winter sports season is just around the corner. Girls basketball begins Monday, November 5. Boys basketball and wrestling begins Monday, November 12. You must have a current physical on file before the first practice, or you may not participate. Questions? See Ms. Gilson.

Congratulations to the Student of the Week – Dexter Porter. 

 

Lifetouch picture re-takes are scheduled for Monday, October 29.

The class of 2013 will be hosting a Halloween Dance on Saturday, October 27 from 8-11 p.m.  Dress   up and be entered in a raffle to win awesome prizes such as a free corsage and boutonniere from Arletta’s Flowers, a free meal for two from Muskrat Lake Café, clothing from Hopkins Creek Outfitters or other gift certificates donated by local businesses.  There is a $5 admission fee.

Math tutoring is scheduled for Thursday, October 25 in Mr. Prielipp’s room.

The 11th Annual Michigan Youth Leadership Conference will be holding two sessions this year, one in May and one in June at MSU.  If you are a sophomore and interested in attending this conference, please see Mrs. Richardson.  You would need to register by Christmas break. Congratulations to the Student of the Week – Dexter Porter. 

 

NHSers - we will be having a meeting Wednesday morning in Ms. Bernier’s room at 7:46 a.m.

Freshman – there will be a class meeting Wednesday, October 24 during 2nd hour.  Students should report for attendance and then go to the auditorium.  It should only take 15 minutes.

Sophomores – turn in your Yankee Candle orders tomorrow morning at 7:45 in Mr. Prielipp’s room.

Math tutoring is scheduled for Thursday, October 25 in Mr. Prielipp’s room.

The Volleyball athletes will be selling pink volleyball cut outs at lunch time for their Dig Pink game on Tuesday.  When you purchase one of the volleyballs for a dollar, you will be able to write the name of a cancer victim or survivor on it and they will be hung on the wall of the gym for the next home volleyball game. All proceeds from the sale will be donated to a cancer organization.

 

There will be an important meeting for all boys who plan to participate in wrestling today at 12:15 p.m. in the auditorium.  Please be prompt.
