SENIOR ATHLETES – applications are available for the MHSAA/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete Award.  You must have a gpa of 3.5 and must have earned your varsity letter.  See Ms. Gilson for an application.  All applications are due by November 22.

The Wexford-Missaukee Career Tech Center will be hosting its annual open house on Thursday, October 17, from 5-7 p.m.   Check out the great programs that are offered for our students.

Remember to get your last spirit points during the first ten minutes of lunch today. You have done a fantastic job showing your school spirit this week.  Go Trojans!

 

The sophomore class will be selling LC cinch sacks today during lunch for $10. 

 

Homecoming Court – court representatives are dismissed at lunch today with a note from home.  Each representative may have a friend go with them as long as the friend has a note from home.

 

Lifetouch will have picture packages available for purchase at the homecoming dance Saturday.  Information flyers are available in the office and will also be available at the dance.

 

The afternoon schedule is as follows:

Noon – court members dismissed

1:40 – band members dismissed

1:55 – all others in the parade dismissed

2:15 (approximate time) – students will be dismissed by the bells to watch the parade

There will be an assembly first hour tomorrow to introduce our 2013 homecoming candidates for king and queen.  All students are to report to their first hour class for attendance.  Teachers will then escort their classes to the gym.  Morning CTC students are to report directly to the gym when the bell rings.  This assembly will run approximately 30 minutes. Students will vote for king and queen during third hour.  Morning CTC students are to vote during lunch tomorrow in Mr. Thom’s classroom.

Spirit week starts Monday.  Monday is Nerd Day, Tuesday is Gender Bender, Wednesday is Color Day, Thursday is Super Hero, and Friday is School Colors.  For Color Day seniors wear pink, juniors wear green, sophomores are orange, freshmen are purple, and staff wears blue.

Central Michigan University will be here on Tuesday, October 1.  Any junior or senior who would like to see them may sign up is in the high school office.

 

The PSAT, Preliminary SAT, and National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test will be offered at our school the morning of Wednesday, October 16 in the auditorium.  If taken as a junior, it could qualify you for a National Merit Scholarship.  The cost is $15 to be paid by the day of the test to Ms. Gilson.  Make checks payable to LCHS.  Sign up in the office or see Mrs. Richardson if you have any questions.

Spirit week starts Monday, September 30.  Monday is Nerd Day, Tuesday is Gender Bender, Wednesday is Color Day, Thursday is Super Hero, and Friday is School Colors.  For Color Day seniors wear pink, juniors wear green, sophomores are orange, freshmen are purple, and staff wears blue.

Central Michigan University will be here on Tuesday, October 1.  Any junior or senior who would like to see them may sign up is in the high school office.

 

The PSAT, Preliminary SAT, and National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test will be offered at our school on the morning of Wednesday, October 16 in the auditorium.  This is good practice for sophomores and juniors. 

If taken as a junior, it could qualify you for a National Merit Scholarship.  The cost is $15 to be paid by the day of the test to Ms. Gilson.  Make checks payable to LCHS.  Sign up in the office or see Mrs. Richardson if you have any questions.

 

If you are in need of dental treatment, you can apply for free treatment at LifeSMILES Dentistry at 300 Paluster in Cadillac either Tuesday, October 1 or October 8 between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.  You will fill out a brief application and if selected you will be called for an appointment for FREE dental treatment on Friday, November 1.

Athletes will be selling Bear Claw Bags through Friday, September 27.  Athletes - all order forms and money must be turned in to Ms. Gilson by September 27.  See Ms. Gilson if you have questions.  This is an athletic booster fundraiser and all money raised benefits the LCAS athletic programs.

The freshmen float building committee will meet in Mrs. Thom’s room Friday at lunch to discuss weekend building plans.  Please bring your lunch. If we have float building materials, we will begin making our float Friday at the maintenance building after school.

 

There will be a full student council meeting today at lunch in Mrs. VanderBrook’s room.

 

Math tutoring is scheduled for tomorrow in Mrs. Peterson’s room.

Cadillac High School will be hosting their annual College Night on Thursday, October 10 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the high school auxiliary gymnasium.  Many college representatives will be available to provide information and talk to prospective students.  This is a great opportunity for juniors and seniors.

 

If you have volunteered or taken part in community service, you could be eligible for a 2014 Prudential Spirit of Community Award.  Applications are online at hhtp://spirit.prudential.com or www.nassp.org/spirit.  Once the form is completed it needs to be submitted to Mrs. Richardson by Tuesday, November 5, 2013.

Freshmen - it is your turn to vote for homecoming court. Please visit Mr. Thom’s room during lunch today to choose the 1 boy and 1 girl you would like to represent your class this year. Again, you must vote during lunch today.

Baker College is offering driver education classes. Drive a Mustang, Firebird or Camaro for your driver training experience. Registration forms are outside the office or see Mr. Yeomans during lunch to sign up.  Classes start Tuesday, October 8.
