GENERAL

The forensic team will perform at Baked Beans on Friday, March 13 from 7-9:00 p.m.  We are asking for donations to help the Forensic program.  Please come out, have a cup of coffee, donate to a good cause, and have a latte fun!

 

Attention Juniors – There is a prom committee meeting on Monday, March 9 at 12:00 in Mrs. Colecchio’s office.

 

The Go To Team will have a meeting during lunch today in Room #11.  Get your lunch and head right down.

 

There will be a varsity club meeting today in the auditorium at 11:50.

 

Beginning Monday, yearbooks will be on sale for the cost of $35 until March 27th. From April 6th to the 10th, the book will increase in price to $40. If you fail to order one during this time period, the book will cost $45 in the fall due to limited availability. You can pay $20 now, and the remaining portion by May 15th. You can purchase the book directly from a yearbook student or Mrs. Atkins. Checks need to be made out to LC Yearbook. Another way to purchase this yearbook will be through our school website. You or your parents will be able to link directly to the Josten's website to purchase the book using a credit card. Finally, we have a widget on the school website for you to see a large number of pictures that will be in the book.

The Rotary Club of Cadillac is offering five $1000 scholarships to area seniors who have been accepted into a postsecondary educational program, and who can demonstrate accomplishments in school areas, community leadership, and/or challenges faced and overcome.  Applications are available in Mrs. Richardson’s office and are due by April 15.

 

Current 11th graders in CTC – if you are planning to return to CTC next year, you are already signed up but still need to turn in a form.  They are located in the wall pockets outside Mrs. Richardson’s office.  Fill them out and return them to Mrs. Richardson ASAP.

 

Reminder to all students – tutoring is on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Room #11 from 3:30 – 4:30.

 

Michigan State’s College of Veterinary Medicine is having their Annual Open House on Saturday, April 18th from

Any girl interested in playing softball - Practice starts next Monday.  Meet in the gym and be ready to go. Practice goes from 5-7.

 

The golf team will be holding first practice on Monday, March 9 after school in Mr. Bongard’s room.

 

Baseball practice starts Monday March 9 at the Middle school from 3:45 to 6:00. All boys in 9th -12th grade interested in playing baseball are invited to attend!

Forensic team update:

The forensic team is off to a good start this season. The team finished in 5th place at both the Birch Run and Beaverton tournaments over the past two weekends. The following team members came home with some hardware at the Birch Run tournament: Landon Griffith 2nd in sales; Carrie Polega and Courtney Baum 3rd in duo open; Rachel Rosekrans and Alex Langmesser 2nd in duo 9/10; and the multiple, The American Car, consisting of: Brooke Rosekrans, Rachel Gaylord, Kathy Handon, Sam Snyder, Jared Wright, and Ethan Hinkston, placed 2nd. At the Beaverton tournament the following team members placed in the final round: Danielle Peer placed 6th in sales; Sam Wilton placed 6th in informative 9/10; Jake VanDuinen placed 3rd in storytelling; Rachel Rosekrans and Alex Langmesser placed 2nd in duo 9/10; and the multiple The American Car placed 4th. Be sure to wish the forensic team members good luck as they prepare for their 3rd tournament of the season. The team will be traveling to Frankenmuth for an invitational Saturday.

GENERAL

Attention Varsity Club – You have a meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, 2/18 at 12:00 in the auditorium.  Trip information will be the topic.  Thanks, Mr. Joe.

 

COUNSELOR’S CORNER

Challenge of the Week – Choose something that you are excited about and practice enthusiasm.

 

SENIORS – There is a list of several scholarships that are available. Stop in Mrs. Richardson’s office to get the information.  You can then pick up the applications that you want.  Most are due by April, so get going on them now!!!

 

Any Junior girl who is interested in attending Girl’s State this summer, see Mrs. Richardson for more information and/or and application.

 

Reminder:  Tutoring on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Room #11 from 3:30 – 4:30.

 

11th and 12th grade students interested in Cosmetology:  There is an apprenticeship program available through The Looking Glass Family Salon.  If you are interested, see Mrs. Richardson for application information.

 

Sophomores and Juniors:  CTC applications for next year are available in the info center outside of Mrs. Richardson’s office.  All students who wish to attend CTC next year need one.  Note that there are two new programs available (if enough students sign up):  Public Safety and TV/Media Production.  More info on these programs is available next to the applications.  Turn completed applications in to Mrs. Richardson ASAP!

 

Seniors and Juniors – there is an open house at the Michigan Institute of Aviation and Technology on Feb. 28th.  If you are interested, pick up a flyer outside of Mrs. Richardson’s office.
